May 2007 quote: If buying trends say anything here is a few votes for the Dmax.
*******************************************

Buttermore said GM's market share of heavy-duty diesel pickup trucks in North America has grown from 3 percent in 2001 to nearly 30 percent with the introduction of the Duramax diesel.

I wouldn't be such a proponent for the duramax if I felt the trucks were all similarly matched. It would be much easier if they were. In reality, the duramax is a whole leap ahead of ford and even the mighty cummins.

I love my 06 DMAX and it is fully stock. I had to Chip my PSD and it still was not as powerful as the stock DMAX. The 6SPD is huge when towing. Being able to drop down to 5th for whatever reason is a great advantage.

I have to agree on the DODGE. That is the only bad thing about my truck, the POS wrapped around the motor.

The bolt pattern on the chevy is only 8 on 165mm. The Fords are 8 on 200mm on the F350s. That should tell you something Ford has a much stronger body, frame, and suspension.and still rides better. Handles heavy loads better, always has and always will. You chevys guys know it deep down inside. 340 plus diesel hp is enough to pull anything you need to pull anyway.

PJDIESEL sweet looking Dodge with the 24 inch wheels. Still the best looking body.

Yes, you are absolutely right. Now, all ford needs to do is find a good diesel engine. Until then, chevy wins with the duramax. Put the duramax or cummins in the ford, and you have the best truck ever made.

I have a completely stock 2008 f450 with a 4.88 rearend. It is the only one ton that legally tows my boat (or even comes close). I have about 6000 miles miles on it and get just over 12 mpg (not towing) with everyday driving. It is quiet and smooth and has enough power to pull uphill. A friend of mine tried to tow my boat with his 2006 Duramax with a Bullydog chip, aftermarket intake and exhaust and oversize wheels and tires. He lost significant speed on a relatively shallow hill and barely made it up coming away from the lake. Also, that thing is way too loud!
