Mark, I had no issues with the belt slipping. I did use low range in the deep holes before I ever got in them. Mine is an 08.....supposedly it is sealed better and the differential locks up quicker...although with the 32's thats not the case. I had to apply more throttle to get both front wheels locked up than I was really comfortable with trying to get out of the end of a couple holes with one wheel in the air. I had that "I think something really bad is about to happen" feeling a couple of times.:D
That sounds good, I was wondering how that would work out. We figured out that if an outlander is laying at a 40* or more angle to the right then the diff wont engage because we think all the the oil is on one side of the diff. I really wish they would offer a diff lock similar to Yamaha's. That allows me to pull off some feats that the other bikes cant I see very little (if any) difference between the 06 and 07 versus the 08 diff lock up. One of can am's factory riders on highlifter was installing a traxtor front diff servo in his OL, claimed lockup after 2-3 revolutions but also made for heavy turning on corners where no diff lock was needed. |
It seems that we broke the transmission on the 08 Outlander 800 yesterday. Very few hours on that bike, 15 I think. No forward or reverse, just grinding.

Well that sux. What were you doing when it broke? I would like to know....i am getting ready to put an 800 can am engine and tranny into the rhino.

She was winching on a Rhino about 300 yards out in a marsh. One theory is that it may be the helix gear behind the secondary belt sheave. I'll let you know. |
Was it in park while winching? I am going to get a new outlander, rob the engine and tranny and electronics and sell the rest. Any of your guys interested in the rolling chassis with 0 miles? Also will have a mint 660 rhino engine and tranny complete.

I suspect it was in low and slipped into high under power, the shifter alignment doesnt seem correct.
