Infiniti QX56 Towing?
#1
Anybody ever pulled a 38' boat with the new Infiniti QX SUV? The truck is rated for 9,000 lbs. Wondering how good this SUV would be pulling a 38' Scarab?

You are going to get three answers to this question.
The first is simple, no you will grossly overload that truck with a 38 foot anything.
The second is "I have a buddy of mine that towed one with no problem" with is normally followed by "I use one to tow mine but it is ok since I only go a mile to the ramp". Hey, it is a forum and people will give their opinion no matter how bad it is because as we all know, if bubba says it is ok and he has never had a problem, than that makes it alright.
The third answer you will get, well, let's just say you will need some thick skin cause you are going to get some very harsh comments. Basically, if you have to ask.....

Could you....sure, should you......no way. I have a Titan, same basic drive-train and it pulls my boat great, I mean really great, I love it, it is towing machine......for a 1/2 ton truck. (My boat is about 4k#.)

Sold a couple of those trucks and if im not mistaken they had brake issues the first couple years... don't know anyone who towed anything but a 25' baja with one and never really spoke to him bout it... Also never saw truck in the water at the launch so i guess it worked but never really saw the boat out either so maybe not.

You need a 3/4 ton truck rated at 12,500 lbs or more. Most of the 3/4 tons with diesels can be ordered that way now. GM used to make the Suburban/Yukon in a true 3/4 ton with an 8.1 liter engine and 4.10 axle that could handle 12,000 lbs. up until mid 2006. The Ford Excursion with V10 or PSD could handle it but was discontinued in 2005.
The Suburban currently can only be set up for 9700 lbs. trailer max weight.
Your 38 Scarab weighs at least 10,000 lbs and with trailer you will be at 12,000 total. I don't think there is a hitch that is rated for that kind of weight made for the Nissan/Infinity.
