[QUOTE=Kims;2514531]Just looked it up and here in NV you need a "J" rating added to your DL if the trailer rating (and NOT the actual weight) is over 10K, no CDL needed. Kind of ironic that I have to take a test for this, the vehicle I operate for a living weighs in at 409000lbs and goes 500+ MPH... Oh, well, I will do it once I get the right equipment..

Do you by any chance fly for southwest ?

Your reading way to far into it. Is it in plain enough english? Guess not. Is it beyond common sense? NO! I have a GM so I have seen it b4. This isnt the first time a car manufacture has done something like this.
I am not going to argue ANY of those statements. However, the way they have it as of today will limit a GM 3500 to tow ANY trailer with a rating above 13.000lbs on the hitch and if the trailer has a rating above 7.500, a WD hitch must be used REGARDLESS of actual weight of the trailer. I might be reading deep into it and the reason for doing so and post on here is so that I don't have to worry after the fact. A stupid accident caused by others is NOT going to be my downfall in a courtroom because I thought service managers are stupid and that I know better than GM. To make it really simple - I simply want to make sure I follow any and all laws.

If that is what GM has intended than most everybody(on OSO) is outside OEM regs and GM is way behind FORD in towing. I dont think thats the issue, rather it was not plain enough spanglish. oh well.

Its not something I would worry about.....especially since you guys take your boats/trailers to the scale and can verify its within writtin limits, regardless of if its overkill for your application.

IMO

we should call myco monday and see what they say it may be different with a boat trailer with little tongue weight vs a camper trailer that tends to sway all over the road ? who knows? i do know the 08 f450 did say 8k limit for a non wt dist setup though ... of that i'm positive... i think the mfrs mislead people with their advertising and most dont read the fine print.. i know for sure any dually will tow much better than a suburban is it legal ? hmmmmm.
