Aluminumized diesel exhaust
Any put the aluminumized exhaust on a ford 7.3, instead of the stainless? How long did it last? Is it worth the cheaper price?

Have you checked eBay? You ought to be able to pick up the SS kit for less than $400 shipped.
I would not get the Aluminum. My EGTs have gotten up over 1000 degrees F on long steep grades on hot days when towing. 1200-1300 is going to damage any metal (melt), and the aluminum is probably even more susceptible to damage from heat. |
the galvalum I think it is is what I have on my rig in 5" and can carry the egts with no probs had it on the truck for 5 yrs and it is driven every day rain snow sun no signs of rust/wear even drug the exhaust across a steep incline with no troubles for the truck is lowered.

I have had many aluminized exhausts on many rigs..no difference in mearsurable egts, does the job on less of a budget..Tips are always SS...

i believe anything above 1300 starts to do some damage.

1350 is ok for 1 - 2 minutes...you will see on some of the higher hp programs for 2 -3 seconds programs hitting 1500 -1600 degrees..before the next shift ...very common. Is it something you want to do ll the time.. no... Some stock trucks will hit 1300 degrees on a steep grade pulling a load..keep that in mind also. |
2 years........works great, looks great.
