New wheels from Shadow Trailer arrived today. I have a good set of Firestones put away, but since I am a long ways from finished I think a set of take offs will be put on for the winter. Shadow trailer had a discount on them plus free shipping. I just ordered 8 to give me two spares. Less than $900 delivered.

Just test fit a wheel to see about lug nuts. I did not want to have a good day boating to just come back to a trailer sitting on blocks so I shopped around for some locking lug nuts. The Raceline Trailer Wheels where going to be tight with a standard acorn so I decided to go with a heat treated small diameter locking lug from Gorilla. Eric at www.brandsport.com put together a set of 48 small diameter lugs with two keys for just under $100 shipped. I plan to use a boot to keep the trailer from rolling away so if anyone comes across a deal please let me know...

the take offs my buddy had where all terain so it looks a bit offroadish...I think the 235/85/16's I use on my truck will probably be a bit too big. The center axle wants to move back a bit but that may change after i start moving the trailer and the equalizer adjusts properly. Anyone else have an issue on the center axle staying centered? I would like to mount the fender but just dont know if I should until I look at a shorter tire. I just have a couple of 4x4 blocks on top of the tires to see how it looks.

I just looked at my axle spec sheet from Dexter. I think the issue with the center axle is the way I hung it from the front equalizer. The spec sheet shows no shackles on front side of the spring. Guess I need a couple more hanger bolts and locks before I move the boat and check to see if there is a special equalizer for triple axles.

I don't see how you could use shackles on both ends your center axle, or any axle for that matter....would allow the axle to float forward/backwards and even move out of alignment with opposite side.
Need an equalizer on 1 end of your center spring where the center springs fastens to it directly, with the other end of the spring in a shackle

Found this for an easier explanation:

Click on the instructions and scroll down to triple axle install pic.

Yeah, i was matching what was on the trailer when i took it apart. It needs the front equalizer shown in that kit. I will pick them up this week from a local trailer supply shop.

I now have the correct front equalizers. If you have an older bolt together triple, may want to check that the center axle is hung with this part...

Looks much better.

(Stick with easy lube setup. Forget the B/B method. Old technology)
