been scopeing out some 3/4 tons......you used to be able to tell by counting the wheel lugs, six is a half ton eight is a 3/4, but so many of these trucks have the alum wheels that cover them and most of them say 'Yukon' or 'Denalli' on the front doors where the older trucks used to say '1500' or '2500'

I'm not aware of them making a 3/4 ton Denali.... ever. But, I could be wrong.

They did make 3/4 ton Yukons and Suburbans, in limited numbers though. They're not as widespread as the 1/2 tons.

hmm good question. perhaps the ones with bigger engines (5.3/6.0) are 3/4 ton?

Doug, yukons and denalis are light weights. They us a trailing arm / coil spring rear suspension.

PS, call me at the shop when you get a minute.

All Yukons and Denalis are half-ton SUVs. Confirmed by the coil spring rear axle and the 6-bolt lug pattern.
Yukon XLs are available in 3/4 ton versions; confirmed by live axle/leaf spring and 8-bolt lug pattern.
Hummers are an odd-ball I believe because they use the coil spring rear suspension but have 8-bolt wheels/hubs.

If you can, take a close look at the factory wheel options. There's a significant enough difference between the half-ton and 3/4 ton wheel offerings that when you look closely, you'll notice the difference.

I have a 2001 Yukon XL 2500 and I swapped a complete Denali interior and some external Denali parts into it. About as close as you'll get to a Denali XL 2500. :D

2000 to 2006 Denalis&Cad esc. have 6.0's.Yukon xl's with autoride make a nice tow rig if your not doing lots of long dist. hauls. 7000 to 7500 lb's or less. use tow haul and it dampin's all four shocks plus you have rear leveling.

1/2 ton trucks are like 2WD SUV's...

Useless...

all yukon, denali, denali XL, and tahoe trucks are 1/2 tons. The only way to get a 3/4 is to get a suburban or yukon XL as equipped. You can spot them b/c of their wheel/tire combo, fender flares, and beefier running gear.
