Mine (Clifford) has a start delay.

I'm a dealer for Clifford, AAMP (they make a version of the Galaxy which is cheaper), idatalink, and a few other brands.

You can get either keyless entry with remote start, or alarm/keyless, and remote start. If you want the extra security of an alarm, it's not that much more expensive, plus it adds starter kill, so that's a 5% discount on your insurance premium and maybe more depending on your carrier.

You mentioned adding it to the OEM keyfob. That's worthless. You're keyfob works from 50-100'. There's no point for it to work any further as you don't need to unlock your doors from 1/2 mile away. Also, adding it to the existing is the exact same price as adding a stand-alone system.

If you have an aftermarket system installed, the OEM will still be functional, but not needed.

The 2 most important things are:

*What's your budget?
*What features do you want?

You'll indefinitely need a bypass module for the transponder in the truck. That fools the truck into thinking there's a key being turned in the ignition. http://www.idatalink.com/searchresul...,AL&f=PL,WD,PG

The first one at my shop would cost you $350 installed. That includes the Clifford module, the bypass module for your truck, and the installation with an "as long as you own it" labor guarantee.

The second one would be around $550 installed.

Your local shops will vary in price. I have no overhead at my place, but taxes are about to kill me. Try to find a local mom and pops shop and support them if at all possible. Stay away from the big box places as they hire installers and pay them minimum wage. Any installer that has a clue about this stuff won't work in a place like that....

(My numbers might be off) In my remote it came with a CR2032 3V battery, my friend who also instlled my remote start said that if I put in 2 CR2016's which are half the thickness it will double the voltage to my keypad and give me more distance. I can be in the local arena watching a concert or hockey game and start my truck over a half mile away in the parking garage. (Only do this to 1 remote, and I have only done this on my Viper)

Personally, I've gone with the Autopage alarm/remote start with pager system in the last 3 trucks I've owned,,good pricing and EXCELLENT range for the remote start.

My Autopage has an adjustable delay on the remote start, just for that reason.

we are a Viper dealer DEI owns clifford and DEI top of the line is Viper. there 5901 security w/remote start or 5501 remote start only have a up to 1 mile 2 way remote . go to Directed.com and go to Viper we have never had a defective Viper part ever 16 years with them

They still may be to new....looking through the tech files at Audiovox they dont even have any of the Cayenne's listed....

Standard trannies can be done....it takes a little creativity. There was a company that had a spring loaded micro-switch that was connected to the shifter....if the trans was in gear it wouldnt allow the car/truck to start. Problem is most vechicles dont have the room to install these extras around the shifter. I once did a remote start on a friends 99 Trans Am i used a pair of hose clamps that i straightened out to act as feelers on the top and bottom throws of the shifter...then wrap a number of turns of bare wire around the shifter and connect that to the hood trigger wire circuit....worked like a charm :D
