i had a 200 excursion 7.3 an 04 duramax hd 2500 and now have a 05 excursion 6.0 the duramax got great gas milage and with a tunner was fast as hell and had a nice ride but i changed 2 heatercores one radiator in it got to love dexcool ,had an injector sleeve coolant leak , leaking fuel lines, cracked fuel filter housing , glowplugs , glowplug controller, both front hubs went bad, pitman arm, bad tach , fuel pump , mas airflow sensor. thats about all i can remember besides brakes, and normal oils and engine service. i just sold it it had 100,000 miles on it but it was a great driving truck. 7.3 had 150,000 and was a little slower burns oil but seem to run forever the 6.0 i am not to sure about they say as long as you dont use a tuner the run good . i think if you are going to keep the truck for a real long time go with the ford if you plan on getting a new truck every 4 years or so then the chevy is fine as long as you are still in that 100k waranty .

Ford has always been better with heavier loads... chevy has always road better... you buying ride or a vehicle to tow with....so i guess it depends on how heavy you are towing

Anyway why all the crying about lifting the cab off, Ford designed it that way. In less than an hour they can have the cab, fenders, grill, radiator up on a hoist all in one piece. You want the mechanic working on the engine like they do on drag cars or do you want him standing on a bucket prying wires and hoses out of the way in a cramped compartment banging around on delicate parts. Your call Mr. expert

Sorry for the delayed response I don't come on OSO much anymore. The question was asked and I answered it in what I felt was better you can buy or drive whatever you like I really don't care.As for the specific problems I see a new 6.4 (yes I know the difference) I see a new one apart almost every week.If you want to ask like a gentleman I will give you specific failures.
This is what ruined this site every thing had to be turned into a fight which is why I frequent a much better site.

I have 2 6.0s. One in a 2003 F-250, 109K, no problems and one in a 2007 Corvette, 25K, no problems. I like them both.
