It wouldn't be driven that much so I'm like c_deezy and don't think it would be worth the extra cost to do diesel.
2010 Dodges are crew cabs now and I agree with Sydwayz diesel is the way to go even if you don't drive it much. I think a 2010 2500 Laramie would be the perfect truck for you, diesel OR gas.

BTW, 2500 Avalanches are not worth a crap $$$ wise. I'd just keep it. I wish I would have kept mine.

I edited my post. I meant not worth anything $$$ wise. They are fantastic trucks, but the general public does not even know they exist. Hence trade, residual, and resale values are low.

Of course everyone loves the diesel, it will out pull the gas motor any day of the week. But sometimes the juice isn't worth the squeeze. When I bought mine the math didn't add up and I didn't want a $45,000 dollar truck, no matter how good the diesel is, how much better the mpg is, yada yada. Maybe if I was pulling 12,000 lbs a couple hundred miles a week a couple times a week it would have been different.

Does the new 6.0L pull like the old 8.1? Of course not, the 6 speed helps but its no big block. The 6.0L also doesn't get 8 mpg unloaded like the 8.1 did either, probably closer to 15 mpg unloaded, not sure loaded, don't really care.

Everybody knows the diesels outpull the gassers, but not everybody needs the extra upfront and maintenance cost of the the diesel.

Oil costs more and fuel costs more but other than those things diesels don't need much maintenance.

This statenment could not be more true but sometimes ignorance is bliss. If you liked the way your Av pulled with the 6.0 then another 6.0 will do you fine and they're less $$. That being said, I've towed with all that Chevy has to offer, 5.3,5.7, 6.0,8.1 gas, and 6.2,6.5,6.6 diesel and the bigest announce I've found is the gas motors will drive you crazy with the upshifting and downshifting constantly to stay at speed while the diesels just go. But you can't miss what you've never had. If you do go with a diesel it's hard to go back.
