Excursion market

Ford/Excursion guys, this one's for you....

I've never owned a Ford, but am considering an Excursion. I've been perusing the Excursion market over the last couple weeks. I would consider any year diesel, preferably a 7.3, but wouldn't rule out a 6.0 by any means.

First thing I am noticing is that the majority of these things have tons of miles. Secondly, the pricing is all over the map! I'm not totally against one with some miles as long as it has been maintained.

Any tips on where to look? What should I expect to pay? EBay, as mentioned before has examples all over the place with no rhyme or reason behind pricing. Gas versions more than diesels, low mileage examples less than high mileage trucks, XLTs more than Eddie Bauers, etc., etc., etc!! Same thing with AutoTrader, no consistancy at all.

Thanks for any help!

i have noticed that to, got a 03 6.0 and love will keep it till the frame falls apart!
the diesels price fell when diesel was 4.25 a gallon, but they now seem to be bringing more, would definitely be the one to buy just for resale value, finding one with low miles does seem to be tough,
good luck!

I know Will loves his '03/6.0L, but it's the only one I would stay away from.

IMHO, go with the 7.3L and let the leaf spring front suspension be good enough for you; or step directly into a 2005 with the coil springs and 6.0L.

I have an 01 with all the 05 headlights and stuff, lot's of mods and 124k and no problems.

They didn't change the Ex with the F on the front springs.

If you can't find a good diesel look at the V-10's I have two in F-250's and they have plenty of power and no problems with mine. I get about 8 mpg pulling my 38.

I've got a 2000 7.3 that I've been thinking of selling. Let me know if interested.

No I am not selling sorry, if you like projects you can get a gas motor 1 for under 5k then get the kit from D stroked and put a Cummins eng and the dodge trans in you can find them for 5-10k in the scrap yards. My buddy did it and hes just a weekend wrencher in 3 days and its a nice ride.
