I have a 95 heritage trailer. 6000lb cap tandem trailer. Seems like a lot of the wood may be rotting bolts on bunks are loose and rusted. Also it has surge brakes but im pretty sure they dont do much. I put new tires on last year and the paint looks pretty good very little rust. Any tips for me on how to fix this thing up. How can i replace bunks, boat is always on the trailer unless im using it.

First, take it to a trailer shop and have the brakes converted to electric brakes. Surge brakes are problematic period. Second, ask them to quote the bunk replacement too.
The electric brakes work well, just disconnect when you get to the ramp and reconnect after driving a mile or so.
