Trailer Wench Gremlins
The other morning we were loading our boat and could not get the wench (NOT THE FIRST MATE ) to pull the boat up onto the trailer. It was like the strap was cut deep inside the bundle. I pulled the entire strap out and everything was in one piece. Re-wound it up and same thing. Everything appears to be working with the wench, it even held the bow in place and now it is tight.
WTF!
Anyone seen this before? Should I get a new strap? New wench?

1) It's a winch. A wench might your your first mate on some days.
2) As the winch strap tightens and constricts on the spool, and stretches; you will be able to keep turning it for several rotations before it starts to pull the boat. Since you pulled it all the way out, you now have to compress and tighten it all over again. It's probably fine.

Winch, wench, tomato, tomato
I was always the first to sit down during the spelling Bee.
The funny thing is the strap was not released all the way the first time, just two or three feet at the most. We have done this for years and never had this issue with the "winch". I will try it again this weekend and see what happens.
Thanks for the reply.
