Default Looking into an F250

So, I'm looking at an F250 that is sitting on the lot where my brother works part time. 50k miles, 27k miles, crew cab 6.0L turbo diesel. Only thing is I think I owe more than what a dealer will give me for my truck.. Never hurts to ask though, right? If by some miracle they do give me payoff, I may be one step closer to being able to haul the boat I plan on buying in the spring.

The one I am looking into is a 2007. All depends on how much the dealer gives me for my truck and how much they will give me for it. If they can't meet my pricing, then its not even worth looking into further at this point. If they do, then I'll PM you the VIN.

2003/2004, I'd raise my eyebrows and make sure all updates and maintenance were done.

2007: I'd feel confident with that vintage 6.0L PSD

I want to find something newer since I'd be getting rid of 1500 and this would be my sole truck. So my range is really 2007 to 2009. I want to stick within those couple years.

Well from what Fixxxer said I would go with the 2007 6.0. He works on them and says they're good engines. I know from the guys with 6.4s they get terrible fuel mileage because of much more frequent re-gens and really low rear axle ratios.

Also ask about rear end gearing. I had a Dodge dually with the 3.73 and it was more than adequate for any job I had. If you're looking at 4x4s they'll more than likely have 4.10 which is what you want with the bigger tires and heavier front end.

Default 6.0 bad news

I just got rid of my 2006 f550 with a 6.0 and I would not own another 6.0 , read any forum they all no matter what year have issues. and they are not cheap to fix. if you do buy one ford has a 200k warranty avalible make sure you get it.

The 6.0 in an F550 is not a good matchup. The later 6.0's were pretty good but they seemed to detune them to make them last. I had an 03 6.0 and it had more power than the later models but the early ones didn't hang around too long. I love the 6.4 in my F450 but as mentioned, fuel economy sucks.
