Default Auto Show Miami 2010......

Went to the convention center this weekend and killed the day.... A few notable things from the show:

Dodge has a homerun with that 3500 MegaCab Dually, the interior is nice but the smooth dually fenders will soon be the norm for duallys. Truck was 4X4, diesel, Megacab and 56K! GM's (which I personally prefer) were embarrassing, the interior looks stripped when comparing to the Dodge or Ford. The new F-150 is getting a little carried away with plastic on the dash but it has nice lines. Ford and GM were over 56K for 250/2500's. The new tailgate extender from Ford looks like it came out of a lego box.....waste of time.

Bentley, Rolls Royce and Land Rover had no display (they have been there for the last 20 years that I have attended).

Mini Cooper is bringing out an SUV of sorts, called a Countryman, it is 4 seats and 4 doors w/available AWD.

Audi's new A8 is expensive and looks like a Lexus LS460. The R8 V10 is awesome but it has Camaro looking tail lights and is 180K! I like Audi products and my last A8L was a perfect car for the 3 years I had it but their new stuff is getting goofy!

Mercedes had an SLS and Ferrari had the new 458 and a California convertible on display. The 458 is one of the best looking Ferrari's built recently.....

They had a Jeep road course set up that was cool, up down steep slopes, through water etc (like Range Rover has at dealerships) and took passengers for rides in a few Jeep models.

The most amazing thing was they had test drives set up for Jaguar, Toyota, Chevy and Buick. You could test drive on city streets all 4 Jaguar products around the convention center (about 2 mile loop). Chevy had a few Camaros out on the street and some SUV/pickups. Not sure what Toyota/Buick offered. I thought it was very "out of the box thinking" on the manufacturers part.

They had a black one with black wheels but I didn't realize it was a new model. It looked like a pimped out SRT8. The orange Challenger was getting all the attention.....

One other weird thing I noticed is on the Caddy CTS-V they put the brake bleeder on top of the caliper, if someone didn't like you a little wrenching would definitely put the driver in a jam! You can reach the nut right through the wheel.....

Also speaking of wheels, new Alpina B7 (hotrod 7 series BMW) the wheels have no exposed air valve. You have to remove the center cap from the wheel to check/adjust tire pressure. Center cap needs a key to remove as well.....Lot of work to add air/check pressure X 4 wheels.....

Remember this is the Miami show, the show is at the end of the circuit loop so a lot of the "new stuff" here is old news since it premiered all over the country all year long before hitting Miami in November. Sometimes stuff that is launched late gets premiered here (like the Mini Countryman) but that is not the norm.

I agree the Dodge has the best looking truck of the three. The smooth dually fenders look outstanding..

looking to pick up a new 2011 Dodge 3500 dually crew cab in the next few weeks. Awesome truck!! Test drove one in the summer and loved it; the interior and ride is like a high end European sedan; the sierra and silverado can't even touch the fit and finish.
