Thanx guys, might take you up on that offer..

I drove 2 hours one way yesterday to look at a 05 F250 73K miles ($21, 900)that I was told was a great truck, what the jerks didn`t mention is that it was a buyback and full of issues. Starter sounded like crap, oil leaking from motor.. etc.. etc.
*******s.

I don`t want the 6.0l
In my $22K budget I can get 7.3l (usually pretty beat up) with around 100K miles.

08 ish V10 with new interior and front end (which I love) and 60ishK miles.
Costs about $16 more per 100miles to run over diesel
(ouch)

Then again I have friend who says he gets 10mpg city 15-18highway on his 7.3l excursion, tahts no much better than the V-10

I agree with ya Dan. Go for the newer truck with the V10. I'll take the newer model with the sweet interior and less miles. Take into consideration the cost to own the diesel in with the fuel mileage figures, and the older trucks overall maintainance bill. Its all a wash in the end. Plus on those cold winter mornings, you can fire up the V10, and let it run in the driveway warming up without the entire neighborhood knowing. The 7.3's were louder than my 6.0, and my 6.0 would make more noise at idle than my mack semi on cold mornings. Plus, if you need fuel while taking the boat to the lake, its real nice being able to pull up along side a row of pumps, and fuel the truck and the boat at the same time! Rather than have to find a gas stop with diesel, and then have to screw around with multiple pumps. Just a little convenience factor. :coolcowboy:

All great points. I personally would stick with my paid for 04 6.0 with 175K verse a newer v10. I know my truck inside and out and it has been maintained properly, plus I work at a shop so that does not hurt!:drink:

2002 Ford Excursion Limited 4WD 4dr SUV West Chicago, Illinois | Chicago Motor Cars

I picked up a 7.3l X today ..

Was a friend of a friends truck ( he kept his Jet skis at my house), I know he was anal like me about car care, it also has all the goodies that I would do , tuner, exhaust, intake, amsoil everywhere, boost/ EGT gauge, built trans, new brakes rotors, leveling kit, bunch of other Diesel stuff I`m just starting to learn about etc...

I never thought I`d get a 8000lbs truck that would move out like my Blown F150 but OH MY GOD was I wrong.. on the 120hp extreme tune this thing MOVES OUT!!
Puts a huge grin on my face.. LOVE IT!
Kids LOVE IT, wife loves it. its awesome.

ROAD TRIP!!!:drink:

How would you compare acceleration between the V10 and the 7.3?

I guess the V10 is quicker but I never really paid that much attention to it, they're both big clunky trucks. I'd generally get in my Corvette if I wanted acceleration LOL!!

But I sooo much more like the V10 over the 7.3, however if I was still pulling my 33' PowerPlay you can't beat the torque of the diesel.

If you really want the poop on the V10 go here: http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum49/ Most really love theirs.
