Default Upgrade/swap torsion spindles?

Can the quick-change spindles be changed from 3500lb to 5000lb parts? I know that entails hub & wheel upgrades. Just not sure whether the torsion-arm side of the spindle is the same dimension between the two capacities. I think these are Tie-Down parts?

And on a related note: why aren't the nuts for these spindles stainless? Of all the stainless/galvanized parts that go on a salt-dipped trailer, we skimp on this particular part....sheesh.

checked the drawings, SOL on the swap.

Are oil baths a worthy upgrade for long hauls with salt-water dips?
