Having just done this,( 2 months ago) I can tell you that the brake rite adapter will only work if it is compatible with the control module in the trailer. If it is not, you either have to get a new control module for the trailer, or go with an add on aftermarket controller. I know this after spending about two hours on the phone with myco, brake rite, and skater.

I have used the magnets on my 2011 Duramax they work fine. The controller needs to see a loop to work, the magnets add enough resistance for the controller to think it's wired to regular electric brakes (which it is with the magnets being wired)

It worked great, For $20 I'll take the chevy even though it is stupid they don't take care of a known issue but but on the other hand I know my engine and tranny will both be there when I need em. 22000 lb with the boat and trailer and it was quite managable,
