'11 Duramax LT or LTZ
2 Attachment(s)
Chevy is back to offering their 0% financing on their new duallys. My local dealer has an LT and has worked a very tempting trade-in on a Silverado. This will be one of our Supervisor trucks so I'd like for it to be comfortable and a nice interior.
The dealer said the only real differences between the LT and the LTZ is leather, backup cam, nav, etc. and that he will swap in leather for me. But the Silverado 1500 LT that we ordered is INCREDIBLY plain inside. No trim rings on the gauges, lots of ugly black plastic, digital NOTHING. Is the 3500 LT the same way? I can't find anywhere online where it describes the true differences between the LT and the LTZ. The LTZ is around $4k more, is it worth it? OOPS: Found a couple of pics.. They are pretty different! |

Also has garage door openers and much better sound system. You need to find a dealer with an LTZ and check it out. Also if you tow a lot the 2500 HD with the Duramax allison combo is great. 2010 is better than 2011 due to new urea tank issues. I tow a 28 Skater with mine and it's like it's not even there! |

The closest place that has an LTZ is a couple hours away unfortunately. I keep finding conflicting information.. Like this picture, it shows very plain boring "LT" gauges with no trim rings and and the other "LT" picture it shows chrome rings around the gauges..
It will be towing a flatbed tandem dually trailer about once a week and I'll probably use it for poker runs if its available. But it doesn't take much to tote around my 24! |
I believe the LT has a bench seat in front with a fold down center consol... which will allow for 3 people in front... the LTZ has bucket seats and a fixed center consol... can;t ride 3 in the front on the LTZ

The LT is horrible inside, in my opinion. Cheap and plain.
Navigation, backup camera, Universal Homelink (garage door opener etc.), power adjustable pedals, are not standard equipment, even on an LTZ. They are options. Power heated leather seats, OnStar, Bose stereo, Bluetooth capability, are a few of the things that are standard on the LTZ, plus much more. Most of that stuff is an option on the LT. Go to Chevrolet.com and enter the truck section, then click on the "build your own" button, choose the LTZ package at the beginning... Anything that comes up as an option from that point on is not part of the LTZ package. |

Well I went down and drove the LT, it had the chrome rings around the gauges, flip up console, cloth and VERY VERY plain dash.
But the price is so tempting that its hard to justify the LTZ just because of the dash. Adding aftermarket leather with heated/cooled seats and window tint was $1400. You could put nav/stereo in for another $1100 (which I only want DVD and backup cam, could care less about NAV) and you're still $2500 ahead but with an ugly dash.. I dont know, it seems almost like a wash. Especially since everything you're paying is going to principal. Its so quiet you can hardly tell its a diesel. |
Have the far off dealer send you some camera phone pics of the interior of the LTZ.
|
I bought A Imperial blue 4 door 4x4 LTZ lat week and am loving everything but the heat on these 109 degree days. Some of the LTZ's dont have the back up cam. If you go to the build your own on chevy's website it will explain each option and the LTZ package. Killer rebates and deals on 2011's Hope that helps

watching, as i am looking at new dullys myself.
how about the denali vs LTZ? besides the fact that 1 is a gmc? |

I love my new denali.
|
To quote my dealer the only difference in gmc vs chevy is the grille and if you want the AC seats the Denali is the only one that has them. The LTZ does have heated seats. I love mine! Even has an exhaust brake (Jake Brake) which I am very anxious to use! In my opinion you cant beat the luxury and quality in these trucks.

I just purchased an 2008 3500 ltz and i love it, its got some miles on it but ive drivin the newer 10-11, cant tell the difference at all, im intrested to know how its gonna handle on the hwy with the boat behind it, i will be headed to destin in the next few days cant wait.

I think Im gonna go with the LT. I kinda like having the option of flipping up the console to allow for another seat.. I won't go into vulgar details of WHY I need this, I just do :grinser010:
Leather, seat heaters, Tint, DVD w/backup Cam (instead of that TINY little monitor on the mirror) installed $1977. Also, the LTZ comes with real polished wheels. The LT just has the steel wheels with the chrome simulators on them. oh and apparently it doesnt have the MPG or MILES TO EMPTY feature on the dash computer, WTF!? What a pain! I guess the MPG will be in the programmer though, but not the Miles To Empty. At least it has a Temp gauge and compass, better than the 1500 LT's What kind of fuel mileage are you guys getting out of yours? |

With only 500 miles on the 2011 it says 12.6 mpg but is supposed to get 18 when broken in. Low MPG is one reason I held on to the 06 so long. Wife wanted the 11 LTZ because we take my truck everywhere. Im happy but we will see what the mileage does. No programing this truck because it talks to the dealer non stop. The smart phone app is really cool and does everything from starting and unlocking to showing oil life and MPG. |
FWIW, the '07+ "LT" is not like the earlier LT/SLT option codes. Now there's 1LT, 2LT, 3LT and LTZ. Old LT = new LTZ, I would say LTZ=Denali give or take a couple details. And of course there's the potential for differences whether we're talking pickups or SUVs.
I thought the LTZ/Denali backup cam uses the Nav screen? Or can you get BUcam w/o Nav and that uses the small screen in mirror? I don't keep up with aftermarket stuff, but unless they figure out how to integrate steering wheel controls and other factory goodies, I'd take the loaded LTZ package so everything works. |

I'm confused:lolhit: |
For a work truck I wouldnt pay 4 grand just for leather. I had an LT once and compared to an LTZ, LTZ is nice but for leather and a few other things , whatever

Well I picked mine up last night and I love it. It rides so much better than any big dually I've ever been in.
I got the LT and had them add heated leather, dvd, backup cam and tint. All for about $1500. Its black on black (on black). Ive only put about 150 miles on it but Im very impressed with the engine so far. I normally don't like any diesel thats not been programmed but this one feels like its got plenty of power and is so SMOOTH! Thanks for everyones help! |

What? How does this work? Is it a Chevy app or an aftermarket app?

I love my 3500 Denali. 17mpg empty running 85mph.
10-12 towing and rides great. Best truck I have ever owned, and the black with chrome grille gets alot of looks. |

I downloaded the App. Its pretty slick!
If you don't already have it, you should get it! I can't get the remote start feature to work through onstar. It keeps saying it won't start with my keys in the vehicle, even though they aren't in it. But being able to see your fuel economy, mileage and gallons at a glance without going out to the truck is pretty slick.. |
Leather,dvd/backup cam....factory or aftermarket? Share a picture?
Maybe the install tapped into a wire that's giving the app a hard time? |
Glad you like it, make sure the truck is locked with the key remote then try it. Took 24 hours for their system to update before mine started working 100%

If you are a small business owner you can also get 1500$ in free work related options. Tool boxes, racks and so forth. My dealer did the hard bed cover, tint and heavy duty floor mats. Enjoy it, looks great

The new urea really helps with the power and mileage. Some people were against it, but from what I have read and the way mine runs I think it is great. |

Thanks for the pics/info. Awesome price for heated leather plus electronics. Only time will tell whether the aftermarket holds up but I've heard good things about katskins. With the heat button, you can't go wrong!
So Pioneer head unit for the DVD/backup. Be interested to hear how that works out. |
The pioneer is kind of a cheapy. And I just found out today that I have to have another piece that gets the XM.. Startin to add up but should work fine for what I want out of it!
|
I ordered the panel to the left of the steering wheel that has the DIC built in and the automatic climate control unit on ebay for $170 this morning. Dealer says the harnesses are already in, just need the units to make it work. So now I have the normal computer instead of the **** one the LT comes with and will have the fancier climate control. The only thing missing from the LTZ is the moonroof, upholstered doors and steering wheel stereo controls..
|
Very nice truck, you will really like that nav unit. If you want the mpg and miles till empty added to your info center your dealer can reflash the unit to an upgraded model for about $50. They may tell you they can't, but they can... did it in my sierra.
|
I was told that the reason mine can't access the MPG and MTE is because I dont have the correct selector buttons.. So once the panel arrives with the "Driver Select" buttons, I should be able to access it.. We'll see!
