I have 6500 miles on my screw short bed. Around town 14 mpg, highway 20 mpg 70 and under, drops significantly above 70. I tow a light 30' superboat, single engine. I'm very pleased with the power!! No complaints. I just switched from an 07 duramax with a 125 hp tune. The ass end sags with the weight though. I added airbags and she sits level and handles great. Towing gets about 10mpg.

I'd like to see how well this smaller displacement gas engine under boost holds up towing for a couple years before committing to dropping that kind of coin on a unknown.

I looked at the quality of the componentry in a broken apart engine at a ford event. Its got a forged crank, piston cooling squirters and a new oil cooler- not sure what the slugs and sticks are but they look pretty beefy. Direct injection keeps the intake charge cooler than a manifold dealio. Also this engine isnt "new" it has been in several different vehicles for a few years now- although this is the first truck app. UD |

Ill be taking the ecoboost from LA to Lake Mead this weekend and back.
Im towing my boat which weighs about 5650 1/2 loaded with gas, and the trailers probably 1500. so "Around 7500" lbs. + me the lady and backseat filled with stuff I will use my go pro to document the trucks performance and demeanor. It will be hot- like 110 degrees out and we will climb to around 5000 feet in this heat. It will be interesting to see how high a gear it can hold and hot quiet it will be doing so. Ill be documenting mileage. Not just overall, but Ill compare the actual fill against the electronic readout. Should be fun- I love fresh water boating on big lakes. Uncle Dave |
Great please post your findings when you get back
