My Duramax 2500hd gets the same mileage as the ecoboost. I average 19 on the highway, 16 around town and 11 towing the boat and that is driving it fairly aggresive. Jeff Wurl

Im unsure how a comparison of a half ton gas truck to a 3/4 ton diesel answers the posters questions. The diesels are better tow rigs but they basically blow chunks as any type of long range passenger mover in comparison to a loaded half ton. In terms of unladed comfort with just people as a payload the EB has a ton more room in the back seats (and a flat floor) , vastly nicer interior amenities when loaded up and a far better ride. UD |

The mileage is not surprising. Well your towing miles are a little low you must have a big boat.

I was thinking, if you already own the 250, why don't you just get a cheap car to drive around, you can find something that will get a lot better gas mileage.
just a thought. |

Before I start a half ton like this will never tow like my F250 diesel, I got that and understand. But with diesel staying at about 50 cents more a gallon than gas and the truck geting 13 as a daily driver I've had enough. |
i have one with the 3:73 gears its got 3k miles on it so just getting broken in and im getting 19mpg on the hwy at 70-75mph avg speed and 15-17 on the streets. Tows my lavey no problem, towed my buddy's 28 magic last weekend with no issue much better than my 06 f150 ever dreamed!!! I love it

On hwy only, I will get 21-23 running around 60. I have a heavy foot, so I am sure there is more mpg to be had. I've only towed a 5500 lb trailer and it had no issues. My previous truck was a F350 diesel and I was getting 9-12 mpg with exact same driving. The ecoboost is a great motor. I like mine alot. |

1. They are older which doesnt bother me but I cant see downgrading to an old diesel with 100k plus on it without a warranty, when my 08 has 22k and the warranty. 2. It has a DPF delete, which to get a good system said and done is 2k, plus your warranty is out the window. 3. Its a newer diesel within the last year and would cost me upwards of 40-50k to pick one up, vs Im getting a loaded XLT for under cost at 32k. |

Thanks for all the info guys so far. It's not said and done at this point I have 6-8 weeks to discuss and research this option.
