You could buy the 100k bumper to bumper if you wanted.
I have 2 friends that had it on their trucks, but it was extra |
Ya, I knew the gassers were always less, but the diesels always had the lengthier 5/100. Did it change for the new Diesels, too?
|
I have an '06 (won't say SRW or DRW to much discussion:eek:) BUT I have 206,000 miles on it and other than a couple injectors has been great, empty milage is still 16-17 mpg and we tow some heavy trailers up to 15,000 lbs max - truck is 100% stock in every way.
I think some of the 6.0 are great and others just, well they've been better. If you have a good one you'll like it! |

Awesome. Glad to hear it. I wish they were all like that. I'm a life-long, die-hard Ford guy, and it's a shame that they had this black eye for a few years there. My first 60k were great. I now have 115K, and from 60-110 cost me 4 major shop visit totaling over $6 in repairs....turbo, injectors, a couple EGR valves, fuel pump, FICM, and a handful of other things that I forget.

yeah that why I almost have the strategy of keeping vehicles new even at the expense of car payment. My payments are usually about 250-300 bucks. SO yeah I could have a paid off vehicle but when that 3000 buck fix hits dealers dont take it in installements, and 3 grand is like a years worth of payments.

Read the fine print on extended warranty programs !!!!! some parts are not covered that are attached to the engine like EGR coolers ect ect !!! be carefull , you will be paying again .

Will this be a daily driver, or a boat tower only?
As long as you can get the price down, it doesn't sound like a bad truck; especially if it won't be a daily driver. You need to get someone to run the VIN thru the Ford maintenance system to see if it's had any warranty work. The service dept. of any Ford dealer should be able to do that for you. Indications the truck has been worked hard: Smell the tranny fluid. Is it burnt smelling? If it's fresh, it may have been burnt smelling and is now replaced. Is the bed drilled for a 5th wheel or Goosneck hitch? Most of those types of trailers are not light trailers. How is the steering and suspension? Tight or loose and sloppy? Both get worn with lots of towing. How about the frame hitch? Is it all rusted and worn? Is it upgraded to a heavier duty hitch? I got lucky when I bought my 7.3L PSD with only 65K miles on it. It was bought as a "pretty truck" and the two owners before me knew each other and only towed bass boats with it. |
