Well I have gotten to the point where I have enough equity in a vehicle that if I were to go for F250 at about 54k. Id have about 15-20 in equity, maybe even go for a new used truck. SO that 54k truck with 10k miles on it is now 38k minus 20, is 18. So small payment. I just think the way cars our this is the best strategy for me.

On the extended plans matters which one you buy (Ford plan).

You can get a full bumper to bumper, or several different power train.

It's amazing how many are offered, the good ones are expensive.

What you get with a new 2012 Diesels get 5 years 100,000 for the engine.

As for the cost on a new F350, the dealers are trying to get rid of the 2011's, ford is offering 6k cash back.

There is a dealer in Kississimee, (mulmax?) that had lariats with a lot of options in the 49k range.

For some reason F250's where more.

Trucks historically seem to have the most incentives at the end of the year. and 3/4tons seem to have more. But what I have noticed is that most of the F250's, chevy 2500's where they drop the price on them big time are gassers. You do bring up a good point. Because at this stage in life a 55k truck really isnt in the cards. The two dieseles I have owned here both 1.5-2 years old when I bought them

I'll have to check them out. I've been browsing my local dealers' inventories a couple times a week these days, waiting for that sweetheart trade-in deal, because I refuse to pay that kind of coin for a new truck. If I can get a nice one (basically anything but a Mexican landscaping edition) in the 40's, I'd be happy. I'm still waiting though. I'm leery of the 2011's however, because I'm hearing some grumblings over on ford-trucks.com and thedieselstop.com about 2011 tranny issues that are supposedly worked out on the 2012's. Anyone hear the same?

Either way, my '05 6.0L has got to go. Took me 3 tries and about 30 seconds to get it fired up this morning. WTF?!

Do not buy a 6.0!!!!!! I own a diesel shop and those the biggest piles of $hit on the road!!! Every week I have the cab off one doing headgaskets etc. hipop failures, egr coolers the list goes on and none of it is cheap! Had one blow headgaskets bone stock with 48k on it!

I have heard if you bypass the egr early, it will help remedy alot of the problems they had. But still known for a problem engine.

Lil red have you done any cummins conversions? My buddy is working on one.

Ford with a cummins would by only newer model I would buy other then the new 6.7. But I love my 7.3.

In Massachusetts they randomly do a full system check when you go for your inspection sticker, so if your egr is bypassed it will come up as system not ready and you get sent to the state garage, a big pain in the ass so, I don't do the egr delete. I've done a couple cummins swaps and will be doing one on my f350 next year sometime, oil pan on the 7.3 is rotted and it has over 200k on it so once it comes out its out! Lol

Looked at a used 2011 when I was home, loaded f350 SRW, long bed 4 door with 30k miles, they were ASKING 42k.

Yes. I replace my HD Diesel truck every four years, and I've never written a check over $18k, and I've generally upgraded to a better/more equipped truck each time. So $4500 per year to drive new and no repairs ever.
