Ordered a Manning trailer... Anyone live close?

I ordered a manning trailer for my 31 last month and I am anxiously awaiting arrival. The prices were very solid but I must admit they are a little hard to get a response from via email. I tricked this thing out so I can't wait to receive it for this season. How has everyone else's experiences with them been?

Carguy08 03-11-2012 08:16 PM

Top notch. Ron is a great guy and the final product is very nice.

They don't do the email thing you have to call. All I can say is mine was exactly as I wanted and more. Rob takes pride in his work.

hotjava66 03-11-2012 08:27 PM

mine turned out very well

If they are still off 7 mile in comstock park. I drive by everyday on my way to and home from work. If I can help with anything let me know

rumrunner29 03-11-2012 10:04 PM

Had a manning built for my last boat, it was a great trailer, thinking about having one made for the Baja if I keep it. It is best to call them for sure. You will not be disappointed!!!

Gotta have a trailer that has the right rated axles to make it marketable! :)

Nice trailers. A buddy had one under his 34 PQ.

Great Trailers
Got mine last May & it was better than expected...!

ROADHOG 03-12-2012 06:33 AM

Going to Manning this week to pick up my trailer. Sometimes Ron is a little slow to respond but he will. Leave a message and email and I'm sure you will get a response.

wananewboat 03-12-2012 07:13 AM

Roadhog, post some photos when the boat is on the trailer.

I was there Saturday and picked these up.

They had 2 trailers being built and 1 red 70 ft done in the building.

Roadhog is the 70 ft red trailer yours?

ROADHOG 03-12-2012 08:08 AM

Boat won't be on trailer for a couple more weeks. Planning on going to Florida soon to pick up new boat.

Brian,

No my trailer is a twin axle Black One. If I needed a 70' tralier for a boat I would pay someone to pick it up. That will never be the day!!!!

Not sure they were "extras" but I wanted them: tool box, led lighting, drive guard, electric jack, ladder to crawl on front of boat, custom metallic silver paint

FuelinAround 03-12-2012 03:35 PM

IF ANYONE WILL BE THERE WITH A DIGITAL CAMERA AS NOTED EARLIER I WOULD LOVE SOME SNEAK PEAKS. I have barely talked to them since they have started so I'm curious to see whats going on.

Sorry to hijack..........does Manning make those boat jacks or are they Yard Arm brand? I'm just getting ready to order a set from Yard Arm in Indiana but hadn't seen any other options.
Thanks, Pat

larry da outlaw 03-13-2012 09:29 PM

Wildman_grafix 03-13-2012 09:44 PM

Is it steel or Aluminum?

Ron makes them for about 35% less than Yardarm.

FuelinAround 03-14-2012 08:43 AM

I went with steel. Mostly because of looks. I have never had the boat in salt water and don't plan on doing it on a routine basis at all. IMO aluminum trailers are fugly

I had Ron build an aluminum one that was painted. Best of both worlds, lighter and salt ready. And as others have said, it expands your potential market if you do sell it.

Love ours but seriously if you got any type of center caps REMOVE them. Mine held water and caused the hub/rotor to rust away. Didn't suffer any bearing damage but all the hubs/rotors needed to be replaced in what I consider to be too soon a time. We have an '08 and doesn't get much travel time on it a year.

Wildman_grafix 03-14-2012 11:26 PM

Steel must be cheaper then aluminum, that is the same price I got but for a dual axel, EOH, with drive guard. No tool boxes, no electric winch.

They look good but are an issue. I get a little hand pump with a small hose and pump the water out after rinsing. Love the trailer though.

+1 on that. The center hubs that came on my Manning look to be stainless steel, they definitely hold water. My rims were trashed before I picked the boat up from the manufacturer. He test ran the boat (Florida) and the saltwater caused a dissimilar metals corrosion event. It got behind the clearcoat on the aluminum rims and turned them black. You definitely can't get the water out of the caps, maybe some drill holes in the sides would help. Nice trailer though.

Most trailer manfg gets there wheeland tire combos from Tredit,I'm sure the caps are imported.I drilled a 1/16 hole at 12 and 6 and it usually drains,But it still attacks the clear on the alum wheel. Mainly around the lug nut area. The black plastic insert caps fit tight,I customized mine:drink:

My car trailer came with the stainless caps and there a 1999 and the alum wheels and caps still look new.

FuelinAround 03-16-2012 06:19 PM

So what's the recommendation? Take the caps off, drill holes, or change them out?
