Transom Straps
 

I was wondering which transom straps you guys recommend or how much breaking strength is neccesary for a 26 baja outlaw. Im a bit confused on how much breaking strength I will actually need. Im guessing my boat weighs approx 5600lbs with fuel. Therefore, do i need a breaking strength of 5600lbs or something much less? Thanks for your help.

Check the internet. I used a company called Ratchet Straps USA. They were very helpful and custom made all the tie downs for my Formula. Price was very reasonable considering the quality of the product.

Thats a good question. because I would think you would need just enough to keep the boat on there and from moving which will require less weight than what your boat weighs. but if that boat really moves around that means its coming off the truck or flipping the truck, so either way your screwed. I dont have straps on my 29 and see a lot with out them. DOnt know if some people have some advice on this.

I just did a quick search on Amazon and they have many brands of tie down straps most of which do not mention breaking strength. Of the few that did 2500 #s was the most I saw. At the site "08 fastech 29" recommended, Rachet Straps USA, they had straps that were more that up to the task with 3" and 4" straps available. IMO if you were ever in an accident having your boat properly strapped could mean the difference between the boat staying on the trailer (say in a spinout) or worse yet heading through your truck! A fellow who was working on one of my jetskiis didn't take the time to use the tie downs and the winch rope broke. My ski came off the trailer on the freeway! The dealer (a great guy) had to pay over $1000 to have the hull repaired and blueprinted. Straps for me baby, even in the driveway!!

I use the 2" webbing with the snap hook that are in the link above. I picked mine up at the local Rural king. I have to use the snap hooks because the J hooks are a double J and they don't fit in the pre drilled holes on my Eagle trailer.

Ive seen the S hooks straighten on pretty light loads,Becarefull

Anything with an S-hook be it safty chains or straps are useless.

Remember if you are in an accident and you hit some one and it is a 2 G stop your boat now is going to weigh in at :eekdrop::eekdrop::poopoo:
