The variable potentiometer (pot) is the way I went. That way you can tune the idle rpms on demand. I drilled a small hole through the fuse panel cover and mounted it there. I used switch #3 because it's the lowest AMP rating, so to save the higher current circuits available for other future purposes.

Thank you posting this information and I like the idea of using the POT. I just need to get around to installing it now!

Do you by chance have a picture of where you mounted the knob/POT?

Nope, I'm afraid not. I put it near the upper RHS of the fuse panel, not too far away from the switches. I'd go out and snap a pic for you but I just traded that truck for a new 2012 on Monday.
