I just had one from Enterprise last week too. They haul a$$ but the interior styling is hideously simple and cheap. The body style is lackluster at best. If GM could just style them better they would sell a zillion of them. I hate to say it but my Mom just bought a KIA Optima for $22K and the interior is like a BMW and the stereo, Nav and double sun roof is nicer than most German cars. As far a US cars go the Taurus is back and in the same price range - freakin awesome looking but its $40K for the SHO package.

I rented a 2012 mustang a few weeks ago when I went to look at a boat. I swore the thing had to be a v8.... Nope, only a 6. Same thing, 300hp. Figured it was likely in the gearing but was able to take it to 120 in a hurry. A serious power house. Visibility was horrendous.

Tried out a Kia Optima last week also.Sleek looking car outside and the interior ergonomics and finish was very impressive.

GM definitely has a nice big V6, as does Ford now. The trouble with the Impala in particular is that it's the nicest thing about the car. I loved the looks of my week long rental, especially as compared to the older ones. But what looked like a decent car from the outside, shrink immediately when we got inside. Reminded me of a Pontiac rental I had. The only pleasurable experience about the entire care was stomping on it. That only goes so far.
The Cadillacs are top notch though.
Even if ultimately slower, I'd much rather have an Audi/BMW/Mercedes than any GM car, sans the Caddy.

Well I have good news for you guys! As a current G8 GT owner (****ing love it, so comfortable, really smooth ride, excellent power and much better build qualiy. That being said after having two Impala company cars) I am excited to see that the Zeta platform which the G8 rides on as well as the Camaro, will be coming back as the Chevy SS. Wish it was coming back sooner at the way my G8 is getting the miles piled up on it for work. Might have to get something else in between.

Banks got bailouts automakers got loans.
Banks are thanking everyone by not approving boat loans from how I understand all the sob stories in the financing and insurance section.
Don't worry tho, most of the bailout money the banks got is still isn't accounted for.
