Default 20 inch tires for an F150

Truck came with Pirelli Scorpions, truck now was 21K miles and I ran over a file (wrecking one tire, others are thin). I want to put Michelin LTX's on it since I have had great luck with them.

Anyone change the factory tire size (a size or two bigger)? Anything better than the LTX? Truck is 2WD, Crew Cab and is S Florida only.

Running Cooper Zeon LTZ's in 275/60/20 (33" vs. 32" stock). Love the tires but probably a bit aggressive for a 2WD truck in Florida if you never get off the asphalt. Dealer reprogrammed the computer for the taller tires. Speedo is dead on. This is with a 2" TGC level kit in front and 3" blocks in the rear.

I'd go with the Michelin LTX MS in Florida. Great tires. Wear forever. Had them on a '99 Z-71.

I put Michelin LTX A/T 2 in 275/60/20 (vs stock 275/55/20) on my truck with less than 1K miles on the Pirelli Scorpions and they made a world of difference.

thanks Mark and Knot.....I remember you guys talking about tires but couldn't exactly remember the outcome. Knot you were 100% right, Pirellis were junk and simply didn't last despite one getting shredded by a file!

LTX's 275/60/20 it will be!

I took the Pirelli's and wheels off. Went with the Toyo's and Eagle Alloy wheels. If anyone need a set of 60th aviversary edition wheels, let me know.

Check your (3) 21K mile Pirelli's for sidewalls cracking.

If they are, maybe you can get them prorated?

Using quick TireRack.com math:

$212/each new x 3 good ones is $636
21K miles out of a 65K tread life tire is about 1/3 of use
2/3 of $646 = $412

Can't hurt to ask...
