Thanks Joe!

I do love the older trucks! But I hate no overdrive and I am not sure it's worth the money to do an overdrive conversion in it. I am thinking of doing the same as you, selling it in favor of an early 2000 model!

This isn't the first square Chevy I have modified! This was my first 1/2 ton i owned. Actually bought my first 502 crate engine for this truck which now lives happily in my jet boat! :)

And then some of my other projects before I got into boats :)

Sweet! Nice rigs...

I can tell ya, the white 97 I bought is so much more refined than the 89. Quiet, cruises nicely at 65-70mph, and got 13.4mpg driving it home from Kentucky. Pulled my buddys 42 Fountain very nicely. The vortec engine pulls a lot better than the old peanut port 454. Plus 4Low at the launch ramp is a bonus. The 2wd red truck on certain ramps sounded like it was gonna melt the converter getting the boat up.

If you don't mind me asking, what did you end up selling your 89 for and what did you pay for the 97?

Got 4k for the red truck on eBay. Paid 6k for 97.

Red truck had 130k miles. White truck 85k miles. All other 96-00 dually 4x4's I found were either beat to all hell with 150k miles, or clean and 8-10k.
