Running uninsured, and if you are for hire and the claim is big enough they will find out its not your boat is crazy for the hauler and the customer.

Just to be clear, you have been lucky so far in your fly-by-night towing; not smart. You are 19. Most folks on here are between 2 and 3 times your age; and you could learn a lot from this site. Luck eventually runs out. You don't run out of being smart.

With all of your towing experience, why don't you swing by Gas Monkey Garage and leave a business card? Think they'd be interested? Think they cut any corners on transport or anything else?

Take a look at this thread:
http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/g...-customer.html

What would you do had that happened on one of your tows, even if only a 32 Sunsation?
What if that accident took place and 200 gallons of fuel spilled out into an irrigation ditch for the local farm? Any idea how much an EPA regulated clean-up costs?

What if you sideswipe a tractor-trailer of brand new C7 Corvettes headed to dealers, and that trailer dumps all of those fine machines in the median? Your $300,000 or so truck liability policy is going to cash out on the the 18-wheeler; and your paychecks for the next 40 years are going to be docked accordingly paying on 7 Corvettes and you never even got to drive one of them. That's where experience, rules, laws, and smarts--trump luck.

Seriously bud, we were ALL 19 once. Hell, most of still feel like we're 19, but have a crap-ton more bills to pay. Take a breather and try and learn something here vs, teach.

He is what's wrong with the industry, simple as that.

If he does not have the proper insurance and cannot pay the damages and god forbid injuries he'll have plenty of time to think about his business model in jail. If he is still living at home with his parents they'll then go after their property for their losses. Insurance companies do not play nice if you're blatantly negligent, but I am sure he is well aware of this.

where are you coming from saying i dont have insurance? im not hauling brand new 40 MTI's. boats im hauling realluy dont exceed about 30 grand anyways. or saying i dont know what im doing... i see where your coming from, older guy on the forums, and heres a young kid in your mind new to the boards. like i said, i dont do it for a business, i only haul boats when i have some time, when the boat is with in my size range etc. and the price and destination is right. from my hauls ive done i was just giving him some advice on what ive learned. not telling him how to run his business. i am looking at getting into the boat building and manufacturing scene and have alot of questions and things i want to learn. im not trying to make enemies on the boards. but from the jetski forums and sled fourms i am on you always get the people who hate everyone so. anyways, please continue.

TW720HVY- i am aware of the repercussions that is why i take every pro-caution necessary when hauling. ie) only haul through good weather, avoid major cities during rush hour, etc etc yes i have ben lucky nothing has happened. like i said, i am not looking at doing this for ever. or really much longer, i gambled and its payed off. some people can make money at a casino, because they know how to play their games, and some people lose their ass, cause they think they know how to play. anyways... thanks for the info guys. get back to the OP about his business.

Bud,

Do you have a Personal Liability Umbrella Policy aka a PLUP? The properly "pro-cautioned", as you would type, hauler would start with at least a $2 million PLUP. I never said you were not insured; as a matter of fact I referred to your insurance in my last post. And before you accuse anyone of hating anyone; read a few of my 17,000 posts over the past 12 years and see how many folks you can find that I hate on this site. (Here's a clue; I enjoy helping folks--not hating them. There are only 2 people I hate on this planet; and they had to work a lot harder than you have to reach that status.)

And BTW, if you come across any good deals on a Rolex; pass!

315duramax does NOT carry a Commercial Insurance policy so what he hauls MAY NOT be covered. Yeah you might be able to PULL ONE OVER on your insurance company AT THE EXPENSE of the rest of us! But these insurance companies are FOR PROFIT so their job is to NOT pay out if at all possible.

315duramax you ARE part of the problem in America.

Its truly sad how you honestly THINK you are making some side cash but in reality you are not. Its sad how you FEEL its OK to run illegal.

How would you feel if someone did your DAY JOB illegally and took away your PAY????? Would that be cool?

315duramax is WRONG and anyone who supports illegal business of any type are just as bad....."just to save a few bucks". I just laugh how its "OK" for someone to save them selves a few bucks but they are UPSET if someone tried to save a buck at their own expense.

You can take all the precautions you want, but the bottom line is if you are not properly licensed, registered and insured you are 101% in the wrong. Side money or not, there are thousands of legitimate trucking companies paying THOUSANDS dollars each year to follow the rules while you openly admit you're "gambling" at lively hoods in an industry that's extremely regimented on both the state and federal levels. And just when you think you have everything under control a split second later the party could be over. Man, there are so many things that could go wrong that's out of your control and I am just floored that you are openly defending and justifying your actions on an open public forum.
