She is running great so far. Already the want for more speed but I think we all get that lol.

Really like the car brother. Have a few friends with them and they all run strong with or with mods. Also have a bud with a blower on one.....I will see if I can find the pics.

I like the your Gen 4 and they can be bought really well right now, and NO to dual stripes on the verts., yes to single stripes. Enjoy, let the tires warm up before getting into it, swapping ends is common. Check tire dates and replace no matter what if over 5 years old. If you have the originals it's time.

Rob,
that's cool, i will be calling, and picking your Viper side of your brain. I want to do the K+N Typhoon cold air intake mod.

And you are right we have been shopping for awhile now, and when I found this deal on e-bay, we jumped on it. It too, has never been in the rain or SNOW either.
Thanks,

Congrats on your new Viper! Beautiful car. I think every Viper owner gives a lot of thought to stripes. I think they look awesome and if it came from the factory with them, I think I would be totally in favor of having them on my Viper. But...I have thought a ton about it and I think the Viper is a plenty aggressive looking car. I decided to leave mine simple and clean. The curves alone get enough attention without a couple stripes.

Do your research on the Alley about the Typhoon set-up on Gen 4, from what I have read it's not a good mod and throwing money away. The stock airbox flows well and at speed is a better choice for ram air power. And I hope your car has never been in the snow!

rob,
Thanks for the heads up! What I also want to do was this....

http://belangerheaders.com/home/vehi...20ROADSTER.asp

I had already bookmarked this. This what the Capt Y did on his 2004

And the guy I bought if from, wouldn't even take it out in the spring, until the town ran the street sweeper on all the local streets and hi-ways.

Beautiful vipers everyone. Here is my first gen, I absolutely love it!!! What a blast to drive!

Capt Y,
Can't see your pics, I think it's because you are only a registered member....:(

Hey maybe it's time to start an "OSO Viper Club" :)

BTW, OSO Mods, thanks for letting this Thread stay in the gen. discussion area, I know it doesn't have anything to do with boating, but I think it is kinda boating related, because without the Dodge Viper engine, there would NOT be a Viper V-10 based ILMOR Marine :)

999JAY 11-15-2013 04:37 PM

Gen III viper motors can suffer from oil starvation causing spun bearings, standard pistons have very little top ring land.
Does anyone know the differences between the automotive SRT v10 and the Ilmors?

Is there any pics available of an Ilmors internals.

Can't go wrong with Belangers. Also for the mufflers look into Corsa, seems Gen 3 and 4 guys are running them with good results.

Add some stripes that peel right off if you don't like them. It's cheap and easy, and if done right; can look really good.

Vinyl the garage queen not dip... The dip is for wheels or entire car...just my .02 cents

Dean, you may be interested in the latest article on the new Viper from the New York Times.

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/11/17/au...omobiles&_r=1&

Funny excerpt from the article " It doesn’t matter that you think its exhaust note sounds like a rutting water buffalo, or that its proportions recall the Duocar driven by Ace and Gary, the ambiguously gay superheroes of “Saturday Night Live.” The record shows that the Viper is the second-fastest production car ever to run around Germany’s famed Nürburgring. And it took the $845,000 Porsche 918 Spyder to dethrone it."

SO,
Great article, thanks. We are going on our 1st cruise today, the rain has stopped here in FL. We are headed down to Sebastian Inlet state park, and then back to the Port of Canaveral for lunch, ~ 100 round trip all on A1A along the beach. Interested to see what my MPG's are !!!:)

spectras only 11-17-2013 01:01 PM

Highway cruise in 6th you should get at least 19 miles/gal. Change of subject to mix in boating content haha. What are you asking for your 35 Nordic?

Edro75 11-17-2013 02:23 PM

Nice viper! I was wondering if you still had the flame for sale. If so could you pm me some info. I tried sending a pm last night but it wouldn't send.

Yeah they really are an excellent exhaust system. I picked up quite a bit of power. I don't have a before dyno but I'm currently pushing 460 RWHP, 503 RWTQ.

Are my pictures displaying now?

Capt. Y
That's a big negative on your pics. I think you have to have a paying memebership to post pics.

Took the Viper on a 100 mile cruise today, what a freaking blast. The Boss drove it on the way back, and I think my days of driving the Viper are over... She loves it, damn! I told her she was going to have to get used to people pulling up beside you at stop lights, and talking to her about the car, meanwhile the light has changed! :)
Dean

spectras only 11-17-2013 10:28 PM

Dean, she should have the vert and you just have to buy a Gen IV ACR for yourself, problem solved, haha

Capt. Y,
The firewall at work is blocking me from seeing your Viper.... bummer. Ordered a K+N Filter replacement last night, and that's about all I'm going to do to her for now. Other than washing and waxing her everytime we take her for a cruise...... :)

LubeJobs42 11-22-2013 01:24 PM

If you decide to strip it, drive it down. I'll have my guess do it for you as a car warming gift!

Captain YARRR 11-22-2013 01:25 PM

I was invited by Dodge to drive the new Viper at an event in Houston this week...wow what a machine. It's definitely a Viper but quite a bit more refined and still crazy fast. I think it would cost me another 50k to get the one I want after selling my car...I think I'd get more value out of $50k more worth of boat so I'll be keeping my Viper.

Dean Ferry 11-23-2013 08:05 AM

Gino, Thanks very much!!

G,
Thanks for the offer, BUT I have lost control of the Viper, HQ has taken it over, see attached pic.... And she loves it as it is, except I'm installing the K+N Filter kit for it this week. And, I have been thinking about the a clear front-end mask, do your guys do that?
Thanks, I'll try to give you a call this weekend, I've got to get the Jag back together and get that sold...need the garage space, right now, the snake is storied in my Mother-in-law's garage......
Dean

Dean Ferry 12-05-2013 05:56 PM

Ordered a V1 radar detector for her today, have an Escort, but I REALLY don't want to get a ticket in the snake! Put 250 miles on her since she has been here in FL., and it's just so easy to get on it, I just know I'm going to get a ticket, hence the V1....

offshorexcursion 12-05-2013 09:53 PM

I got 2 Reckless Driving and imprudent speed within 5 days with a V1 (every option, hidden display in a 2 way rearview mirror, etc, etc). It never went off because they never clocked me. Did not matter. They did not have an exact speed just said "we could hear and see that you were blah blah............. it sucked! Hired an attorney to fight it in court and got the points reduced and fine reduced but my record still shows reckless driving. At least we were on the open road alone with no other vehicles around both times but they did not care. Hot car with young couple driving.

Either way good luck with the V1 or the escort, just wish it would have helped me.

Lots of Custom parts, Turbo, brakes, ohlins suspension, etc. Was smart enough to sell after those tickets! Will have a Twin Turbo Viper one day though:)

Yea my experience with radar detectors is that they go off to let you know you are being pulled over, radar or laser.

Guys,
I used my escort for 10+ years, and the only ticket I got is when I had the volume turned down by accident, every other time it beeps just ONCE, I'm on the brakes... And I commute 80 miles round trip Mon-Fri., or at least I used too, now I'm working out of the house! :)

spectras only 12-09-2013 03:36 PM

I have the Escort 9500ix, that saved me a few times. What I do when my Escort goes off ,I immediately change course left or right if possible or better, do a U-turn, even if it would take me to a long detour, hehe.

Jupiter Sunsation 12-09-2013 06:20 PM

Valentine is a great unit......just did 980 mile trip through 6+ states and it was a nice addition to the trip especially since it wasn't a regular trip for me so every road was new to me. Once you live with the arrows you won't want anything else and they will update your software to keep your unit current (for $$ but still cheaper than a new one).

Laser does suck, you are done even before you can lift your foot off the gas! I haven't gotten a speeding ticket in years though, too many trucks (slow)

Dean Ferry 12-22-2013 09:25 PM

Went on a cruise yesterday with fellow local viper owner, went down to "Grills" on US1, came back I-95 ave'd 110-120 on the way back up I-95, it was a blast for about 22 miles. :)
