She should be here next wed. Woo Hoo, can't wait. I have been patiently shopping for 1 for the last 3-4 years. It's a 2009 SRT-10 Convertible, with 4,000 miles on it. And it is in showroom condition.

Now I need to get rid of the wife's Jag.

Yeah I'm really torn, a few others that I looked at, had the shelby stripes and they looked good, but I know IF I do stripe it, I'm afraid that they would have to clear the whole hood and trunk lid!

Sunny32SSR 10-31-2013 11:38 AM

A buddy tricked out his with Gregg Goode heads and cam package. He was debating the same thing and ended up holding off and put the money into 5pts instead.

Add some stripes that peel right off if you don't like them. It's cheap and easy, and if done right; can look really good.

That would be the right way to do it - or you could also go vinyl but I wouldnt on such a nice car.

Yes you would have to bury in clear. A good shop could do them in a high quality vinyl and they actually look good plus you can remove if it grows old. I kinda like the looks of a matte finish stripe on some cars. Nice ride Dean!

that stuff is pretty cool... thinking about doing the boat sides just to see what it looks like.. don't like then peel it off.. Gets a little better adhesion once on for a couple weeks, but still comes off by peeling.. I watched a few videos...... :-)

Thanks GD, here's couple of more pics of her. I went and test drove her last weekend, ran her up to ~170 to blow the cobwebs out of the exhaust! :) The car has been sitting for couple of months....

spectras only 10-31-2013 01:12 PM

I wouldn't stripe the car. Stripes suit the coupes better .Looks great as is with the black top for contrast.

I think that is very true that they look better on the Coupes than on roadster... I might just save the money for exhaust and a Cold air intake from K+N....
Thanks,
Dean

I have factory stripes on my coupe but like verts without. If you haven't driven a Viper before [ doesn't matter if you driven powerful cars before ] take it real easy on the throttle and down shifting for a while until you are confident with the car.

SO,
Beautiful Coupe, love the color combo. And I hear ya, when I test drove last weekend, the car just has a brutal amount of torque, and shifting her takes alittle bit of getting used to....
Thanks,
Dean

Thanks DF, you'll love the snake. There isn't many cars that gives you the excitement and rush like it. Driven a few exotics in my life and none gave me that adrenalin rush like the Viper.

SO,
We test drove it around town, and out on the hi-ways, and it most amazing car experince I have ever had! :) The Viper accelerated harder, went faster, and braked harder than any other car I have ever driven. It's almost intoxicating!

spectras only 10-31-2013 06:58 PM

Ferrari 599, NobleM400, Gallardo Superleggera,Lambo Countach,,Diablo in the mix with my friends never stopped people from admiring the Viper whenever we stop for coffee.
Having 4.10 rear helps me hang with any of them as acceleration goes, top speed suffers a bit but that's OK .
You'll find that fuel economy is pretty decent on the highway with stock gearing.

ICDEDPPL 10-31-2013 07:52 PM

I like the stripe a lot, I think it makes the car!!

My ex brother in law and his father were both salaried at Chrysler, the group his father was in were higher up executives and when the Viper came out they got to take turns having one for the weekend or something, wasn't long before one of the guys swapped ends on one violently under hard power and had a bad crash which put the end to that perk, so ,good advice, get used to that raw power before getting too nuts!

pm203 11-01-2013 06:46 AM

Dean, I love stripes on a Viper, and especially on the coupes. But, on a roadster, in red, I would leave it as it is.The color says it all.

Bad Ass TA WS6 11-01-2013 11:51 AM

No stripes for sure. Im pretty particular about those cars. Certain colors pull off stripes better than others. Gen 2s look a lot better with stripes then Gen3/4s IMO. Nice ride!

WS6,
Thanks, I'm pretty sure I'm going to leave the paint as is for awhile, save my money for engine upgrades, once I get used to driving her. :) BTW, I had a friend that had a TA WS6, and it was a FAST CAR!

Be carful down there when the road get wet and let the tyres warn up before giving her some right foot otherwise you could find yourself point the wrong way on the freeway.

Last pic shows the flames on gear shift!! loads of fun

Enjoy

D,
Thanks, it's really something else to drive, it's hard to describe how much torque this car has. Bad news it's going to cut into my boating time, (My local boating friends are pissed about that!!)

Dean Ferry 11-15-2013 07:05 AM

Jay,
Awesome ride, do you have any pics of the engine compartment? Love to see your blower set-up.
Thanks,
Dean

Nate5.0 11-15-2013 07:07 AM

No stripe.

Small drop (1/2" maybe 1") and ditch the chrome for a clean aftermarket offset wheel and be done. Maybe intake and exhaust.

Congrats on the car Dean....it's gorgeous

When your trying to stir the pot with Gen 3 and Gen 4 owners ask if its a S2000. Its all in good fun, the joke on us Gen 2 owners is it looks like a clown shoe!

Thank you sir. Its a 97 with 10k miles, 2nd owner, never been in the rain. Cosmetic mods: Gen 3 Wheels, 3rd muffler delete, skip shift delete, smooth tubes, shortened 99 shifter and knob, Mopar wires, a few other simple goodies.
I like the your Gen 4 and they can be bought really well right now, and NO to dual stripes on the verts., yes to single stripes. Enjoy, let the tires warm up before getting into it, swapping ends is common. Check tire dates and replace no matter what if over 5 years old. If you have the originals it's time.
