Been looking to change out the "undersize looking" LT265/75/16R on my '02 Ram 2500..........The Wheel wells look empty with the standard rims & tires.
Don't want any bling nor do I want to lift the truck. The economic solution points to Hummer H2 wheels with the standard tire 315/70/17R.....doesn't bother
me putting GM on the Ram and I know about the smaller hub issue...............found a great deal on a full set of H2 tires & rims, but does anybody think this
is more trouble than it's worth?

Your Dodge is 8x165.1 (lug pattern) the same as the Hummer. Both trucks have a similar offset +10 for your Dodge and +18 for the Hummer. Test fit a wheel on the front of your Dodge to check for brake clearance. From a fitment stand point, it looks like it will work.

It will work without any issues. I have two freinds that have done this.

Have to bore out the center hub of the rim. The dodge wheel bearing is slightly larger.

I checkout a set of H2 rims, but passed on them. (they were oxidized in some areas and the chrome was flacking) should a OEM rim flack like this?
I just wonder if they were replica's or something.
Next time I go out to look for some H2's should there be an embossed stamp or marking to prove it's OEM?........Alo, can even the best wheels have
a chrome flacking problem?...........Thanks All!

Just picked a complete set of 5 in good shape ($45 apiece).......need to route out about 1/8" material around the hub.........anybody know what kind of router bit would work best?

I don't know what the 6.0's had as options but my '05 Avalanche 2500 4X4 with 8.1 motor had 4.10 gears and it made a bid difference.

Look in the phone book for shops that refinish rims. They will have the tooling needed to spin the rims and machine out the hub area in order to keep the close tolerance fit and balance. Some machine shops might be able to do it with some searching but the rim shops definitely have the lathes for turning the face of rims so the hub should be a breeze for them to cut out to the larger O.D.

Bet a cylinder hone would do it pretty quick...
