I added a full-length helper spring to my 84 F250. When the spring "kicks in" is adjustable so it didn't change the ride unloaded. I'm not suggesting this is the best available solution but it did work for me. Cost was about $100.
I was towing a CC Stinger 260 (twin smallblocks) on a triple axle steel trailer.

I like the Air bags because you can add the air when you need to. Just my .02

Added Firestone air bags w/compressor and Hellwig sway bar to my truck. Money well spent.

Went to the lake today. Truck rides great with the airbags!
