No I'm not sure it could be 34..The most I've ever put in was 30.5 when the gauge was way below empty ...I've never looked it up .I Just wrongly (I guess) assumed 31 .Thought I had read it years ago when truck was new....BTW 230,000 and still running strong

I know my 97 has a 34 gallon. Now that I think about it, I think the most i ever put in was around 29-30 gallons, and the needle was showing pretty much empty. Must of still had about 4-5 gallons in there.

With my 2007 Classic 2500hd 8100/allison with 4.10's and 285 tires, I get about 12mpg on the interstate running 75-80 empty and 7.5-8mpg towing my 32 AT.
In town I'm right around 10mpg empty.
My 2001 with 3.73's and stock 245 tires got about 1 mpg better when empty. In very cold winter weather both got about 1 mpg less.
My 2007 shows an average lifetime fuel economy of 9.8mpg on the dash, but it is actually 5% higher because the computer is not calibrated for the larger tire size.
At 70mph on the speedo,, I'm actually running 74mph on gps.
