When the torsion bar is installed it is partially preloaded after removing the loading tool. So the adjuster bolt is installed, the vehicle is lowered down and it settles out. Now, I will talk in your terms...that is the initial "twist" as you call it. Now if you adjust the bolt/ride height the WHOLE BAR ROTATES...meaning it "twists" the same amount on EACH END OF THE BAR. Now, that ride height is set, the only time the bar "twists" more or less is under compression and drop out. I am done here.

I cant actually believe that I am wasting my time with this on a boat forum...but it is november.

Damn you GM for replacing leaf springs/solid axle with IFS/torsion bars!!

It's hard to believe that a 30 yr GM mechanic and someone that programs robots for a living doesn't know how a torsion bar front end works. We must be idiots Jeb.
