That is a cool link Jupiter. I clicked on the pictures of the 4th truck down and one of them shows the average fuel economy display. 11mpg average! That blows my mind! My 1993 extra cab Chevy got better fuel economy! I understand that the new trucks are heavier and rated to tow/carry more but what the hell.
I wish they would put manual transmissions in trucks again. At least you could squeeze out a few more mpg. |

Light to light and stuck in traffic it does suck a little! But I would still take a standard trans any day. I loved my old 7.3 5 speed Powerstroke. I am a CDL driver though so i guess my left leg is just used to the abuse!

Got a 2015 Crew cab gasser with 3:73's. it does fine pulling but it does get thirsty pulling. if I set the cruise around 70MPH it gets around 15-16 MPG, If I set it at 78MPH it gets around 12-13MPG. Overall I love the truck.

The 6.0 is a thirsty motor with no torque.......my buddy sold his 2005 crew cab 6.0 and it averaged 11.3 for it's whole 100K miles (he prided himself on never resetting the MPG computer). I have always preferred the 5.3 (it just seems more lively!). For limited use, limited towing a 6.0 is good compromise as you can usually get a deal on them and they are 8K cheaper than a diesel to start with but you might have to give it away when it is time to sell (especially if gas prices go back to $4 a gallon). I know another guy that traded a 220K mile duramax for a new 6.0 gasser. He said for a work truck it doesn't really matter, they both got low teens for mileage. He preferred the duramax but didn't want to pay for a new one. |
