Sorry Hotrodford but I have some experience with H&S to share and I am going to be honest. You know what they say, good experience is learned from bad experience.

H&S is pretty much out of business due to a huge fine by the EPA and subsequent legal proceedings back and forth, a google search will reveal problems people with their tuners are running into currently. Be careful. I run Chevy's and I know, check the net. I had an XRT Pro and went to EFI Live now. You cannot buy an XRT Pro from H&S anymore I know in the USA and I think everywhere else as well and they are pretty much unsupported.

DEFINITELY get third party tunes with whatever programmer you buy.

I use Synthetic Motor Sports because they are close to me and very good. The third party tune writer they use is awesome.

I ran into the EPA deal when I was doing my duramax, some just stopped selling, but the key ended up being saying you are building a "off road only" vehicle, had to show pics with no tags and have another truck that was tagged..just B/S but got thru that way...

It was the support after the sale on an issue I had that got me on EFILive from H&S. I bought my XRTPro when they still sold them in the US< the box says USA model right on the outside. I still have it. I do not have the truck anymore and the two I have now are both EFILive and MAN! I just looked they have gone up a PILE of money since I got mine. I have a gas and a diesel Silverado and use EFILive on both. Much faster flash than the H&S was as an added bonus, just very costly I see these days. Need to do the A50 flash on my transmission right now. Just bought it damn it thanks to this thread.

If your are not looking to spend a ton of money or add any additional power, I just installed a "MotoBlue" and an AFE exhaust on a customers 08 F-250. Everything worked fine, no check engine light. The flash device is a little cheesy, but it worked for him and his budget. No more regen cycles. I personally run an SCT on my 6.0 and love it.

I run the H&S Mini-Max.

Shift on the fly programming, monitoring of everything, any custom tunes you want, defuels can be set on all sorts of parameters and it tucks in nicely right above my rearview mirror. I just run the canned tunes with reasonable defuels because I don't rip on it at all, but you can always run custom tunes. Gearhead has historically been one of the well respected ones.

The truck is so much better once you delete.

Thank you for taking it in perspective. For Chevy EFILive V2 is the best thing going right now. Again like I said on Ford not sure. I do know that exhaust and a few deletes brought up my fuel mileage from 14.6 with the DPF regen every 75 miles (Chevy has a recall for it now of course) from 14.6 pulling nothing to 22.5 pulling nothing which I really never did anyway. I have a 6.2 gas 1500 for city driving and it is FUN, I don't care about the mileage. My diesels don't leave the driveway unless for service with nothing attached to them. I have had a 2004 with Edge programmer with attitude LB7 and on my 2008 I had an Edge EVO Race programmer on the replacement 2008 2500HD Duramax then I went to H&S then now EFI Live on a 2012 3500 HD Dually and I prefer the Autocal and EFILive since I lost the ability to change programs on the Edge Juice with Attitude on my 2004 2500HD Diesel. I have run downpipe back exhaust on all of the above mentioned trucks (except the gas truck) but now I have tighter emissions to deal with so I miss the old days. I mean it was kinda fun to change to stage 5 and smoke out the Volvo with earth biscuits in the Volvo you had to follow 20 miles with them in the left lane beside the person in the right lane while they talk on the phone or just mess with you.

Fuel mileage towing 8500 up to 18000 is why I got Diesel trucks. Mileage is why I got programmers. When you pull a lot of weight, the fuel savings add up fast with a good setup.
