I test drove the 2017 gmc one ton and loved everything about it, with the exception of the accelerator travel length. It felt like it moved 8" from idle to full throttle, also its "peppiness" isnt quite that of the ford, I ended up picking up a 2016 f450 platinum for a very very reasonable number and have enjoyed everything about it except the gear ratio, its a little low for my personal taste. my .02

sydwayz, they offer factory rear air setup on the Ram 2500 and 3500. still has springs up front. my 2500 has coil springs all the way around while the 3500 has leafs in the back. Ive always found the gm trucks to be most car like in ride with ram in the middle and ford the most truck like. ride preference is a personal choice. Personally i dont mind the stiffer ride but the wife is not a fan. she doesnt complain about the new truck like my 03 3500.

Here's a 3500 dually mega cab with the rear air system. Basically my dream truck if I was only shopping for a tow vehicle. Very impractical as a daily driver in the city. Not to mention the price...

Factory off road packages, like Z-71 or FX-4 and tire pressure change ride quality also. I have a 2012 F-350 SRW FX-4 short bed extended cab that rides hard,but It is a great truck and moves mountains of snow. I keep the tires at recommended pressures which exacerbates the situation. When I bought my 2016 F-350 LB quad cab dually I avoided FX-4 and am delighted with the ride. I like Ford trucks (currently have 9 in the family) but they do not ride like a GM product and never have, period. As started previously, everyone has different priorities and needs, there really aren't any bad choices.

Nice! Is it ALL air in the rear, or air assist? And can it be had on SRW 1-ton/3500?

Ram 3500 has an pretty badazz optional factory air rear suspension. Mine has it and the system has been flawless for over 130,000 heavy towing miles. It's more then just an air assist, but it's not 100% air ride, sorta a hybrid system. There actually has been a few versions, and I wouldn't be surprised if the 17 or 18 are even better than my 16.

The Ram 1500 AND 2500 comes with their own versions of 4 corner coil OR optional 4 corner air

The current website shows the "original" design but I have not seen that design on the 2014, 15, or 16, which have had slight variations of what mine has. Mine has 2 main leafs, 1 flat leaf, and 1 half leaf from axle forward, HD bags, plus automatic air system.

I really hope that "original" design shows up with the mono leaf, traction bars, and HD bags.

I talked to a boat hauler last week that had 620K miles on his 2014 Ram 3500 mega cab. Only hassle so far has been multiple water pumps but he said he can change it roadside and the truck is easy to diagnose/work on.

My Duramax needed a waterpump and it was a dealer repair for me after I saw where it was!

I gotta say, I'm very happy with the nice ride and quiet cab in my new '16 Duramax 2500 CC. Very comfortable truck and so much nicer than my previous '08 as a daily driver. I have the Z71 package but it has street tires.

I have the off road package on my truck and could not get a straight answer from multiple sales people at different dealers in regards to how it rides compared to the non offroad setup. I do like that it has the upgraded Bilstien shocks. Would be happy to switch to Fox shocks if it didnt.

The Chevy CC LB that we tested with the LTZ package and Z71 was definately a nice truck. If it had the diesel for the same price we probably would have worked a deal. Just didnt want the lower hp and torque of the gasser.
