Some states don't use titles on trailers. If you bought your trailer from one of those states, all you can do at the DMV is show up with the bill of sale, because the seller doesn't have a title because his state never issued him one.

I understand your reluctance to do so but It is worth a 5 minute call to one of the out of state vendors I listed. You can get title, tags and registration very easily or continue to be frustrated. It is all legal. Just look at trailers driving around you in NJ. I bet 75% of them have Maine plates on them. Good luck.

Maine registration for sure. Quick, easy, and inexpensive. Hell, the douche bag drunk driver that hit me had his truck registered through the same agency that registered my trailer!

The main question is did the trailer come from a state that does not have titles. I bought my myco from Georgia where there is no titles. . Just had the owner notorize a bill of sale and printed off an affidavit of ownership on line that he had notorized also. No problems at all. Jeff wurl

I have the same issue,Trailer came with boat and no reg and no vin tag or #'s anywhere!!Boat and trailer came out of OK where they don't have to reg trailers under so many pnds.Talked to the bank that financed the deal and nothing on the trailer.the original owner doesn't even know what make the trailer is!! Craney,if im not mistaken if you try and go the home made rout, they want a materials list and receipts b 4 they will give u a title unless something has changed. Please post how you make out!!!Good Luck!!
