You don't ever need 4wd until you need 4wd.

"Big" truck + 2WD + slimy ramp = wet truck.

I used my buddy's 2WD F-650 to haul my 37 Active Thunder once. I pulled it out at a ramp that was mediocre, but fully functional. It did have a sand base. I did briefly get the 2WD F-650 stuck on the ramp. I had to back down into the water again, and come up a little hotter and it came out. But I was briefly nervous; even knowing the family who owns that ramp owns a heavy duty towing company, and they had multiple vehicles on site which could have had me out in a hot minute.

This is that same ramp, a different time using my 2500HD with 4WD; and no issues with that truck.

It is a yard! But we've put in a 42' Cigarette Tiger, 39' MTI, 37' AT, tons of other go-fasts, and several big cruisers there with no issues. :D

Wonder how deep it would have gone if that dock was not there!

4WD F-650 would be the coolest choice, but that is a little much to climb up into! Not to mention the fuel mileage probably almost cuts in half.

I thought that was his truck.

That FL going in the drink was simply the back tires in the slime... Put the parking brake on and get out.... It'll slide right back....
It happened to me once, but i dove back into the door and pushed the brake pedal with my hands to stop the front wheels.......
A 4wd pickup, in 4wd, in park holds the front wheels in park.. Thus the day is saved.
The big truck is just heavier and easier to get sliding down a slick ramp.
For me, Unless you have 25,000 or more lbs to tow, I'd take the new dually... Much easier truck to live with...and worlds faster.... Yes, we all care about power and speed... Our Dually handles better with the bigger and heavier duty tires. Stopping is worse though (obviously).
We pull 21,000 with a dually with air bags and 22.5s very frequently....... 38,000 on occasion but slow and no hills...
We have a big chassis FL with the big engine too.... But I'd rather pull the 21k with the dually...
I have more seat time in these than I would like to have had....
Our big cats on tilts weigh 24k, so the FL is better for that load...

I used a F650/Cat a lot when I was at Cig.... Not trying to knock it or insult those that have those trucks... but its not nearly as good as the FL... But better than the International... The F650 rode terrible, was noisy as could be, had little power, and you lost about 40% of that power if it was raining out...really.... But it did have big shiny wheels.
