Member "Cignificant" went from a 2000 7.3L PSD Ford F350 CC LB 4x4 DRW to a 2017? 6.0 2500HD Chevy CC SB. He says he loves it. He has a 5th wheel RV and a 33' Donzi ZX that he tows now, and says the truck is perfect for his needs.
Clearing the diesel smell ... one Ford at a time. ;-)

The shifting even on my Z71 was insufferable until I used a Bully Dog flash tuner and it made all the difference. I’d go to mash the throttle and it would upshift and cut four cylinders at the same time and it literally felt like I turned the key off. I turned off that stupid cylinder dropping program and it changed the shift points to where it drives like it’s in “sport mode.”

Im a little Leary of such hand held units but it made the truck drivable. A good shop can do a real custom tune and make the tranny do whatever you want. It seems like the shifting issue is an easy one to remedy?

My 7.3L PSD didn't smell bad at all. I had a tuner on it and obviously no emissions.

But this new one has a smell only when it's in regeneration:

That’s a bone stock new 3500.
It’s really not squatting much. The truck is pointing uphill a bit. I am putting on a lift and bags soon, and will have to redo my WD hitch setup.

I know and I know.
This is the 1-year only trim level I special ordered for mine. The interior caliber and quality is one of the main reasons I purchased an FCA product. As soon as I saw that 2-tone I was SOLD. I’ve only seen one other SouthFork edition in Metallic Silver, and that was only online, and a dually. It’s probably not 1 of 1, but I know I got a rare bird.

(FWIW, Ford would not build you a King Ranch in Silver, nor could you get a Dilver GMC Denali HD with Silver paint and their Cocoa/Dune interior. I really wanted brown/tan leather in a silver truck.)

I love my 8.1L Avalanche. Very underrated engine. I couldn't find a decent 8.1L HD 2500 Allison truck when I bought my Avalanche.

Yes the Avalanche was a cool package for the 2500 series. Sad thing was that it didn't have the Allison Transmission which makes a huge different in towing. But still a great Gas Option for sure

A buddy with a good sized landscaping business only buys the 2500 with 6.0 for work trucks. Says there is nothing can touch them for cost and reliability. They spend their whole lives with big trailers on the back.
