Default Best Tire?

Truck is a 2012 2500 Duramax. Tire shopping so I値l be ready for tow season.

Going with factory size 265/60/20 Load E (10 Ply). I like quiet tires so I want an all season style. Truck came with cooper ATs and I hate them because of the noise.

So what all season tire can I get the best tread life? I知 going to assume Michelin? I tow 3-5k miles in the summer and 15k miles to work and whatever for the rest of the year(non towing). Thanks for the advice.

Cooper at3? Loud? If those were loud to you, you will definitely want something like Michelin LTX or something in that category. I've owned multiple sets of Cooper at3, ATP and Zion and road noise was never an issue. But that's just my personal opinion.

My 2017 F-350 came with a Michelin all terrain. After about 500 miles I decided they were coming off. I had them balanced twice and it was still shake rattle and roar. I had great luck with previous LTX Defenders. So I asked michelin to swap them out. They put on the LTX and what a world of difference. Very quiet and a smooth ride. This was a brand new truck.

I have had quite a few sets of Cooper tires including their AT, and just ordered a new set of AT3 XLT 35.5s for my new truck. I知 a big fan of the brand. I致e never had a complaint about noise and several of my truck friends have commented on how well this last set rides AND how quiet they are. Once guy bought a set for his truck even.

Be aware that worn tires are noisier than new.

I've had Michelin LTX M/S2 and Nitto Terra Grapplers on a Tundra, towing 10k. The Michelin never gave me a problem, just liked the look of the Nitto's more. Both sets of Nitto's never made it past 30k miles before 3 out of the 4 started bulging in the tread, causing the truck to shake and have excessive tire noise. On my F350, I have Michelin's LTX M/S2 again, I've learned my lesson with the Nitto's and won't be going back to them. I purchased my truck for towing and though the aggressive tires do look good, they often have more problems than the stock Michelin's so I'll keep my reliability and fugly tires. Stay Michelin, just buy a bigger tire if you want a larger look, keep the quality, quiet, and reliable tire. My $0.02.

On my Excursion I have had Firestone's (blew 2 apart), Goodyear's (had 1 that tread separated) and Michelin's LTX. Michelin's lasted the longest (going on 7 years) and got the most mileage. Way quitter than the rest. Put a set on my Caddy and Challenger. Wouldn't buy any other brand tire.

I have 2015 d-max with the same tire size as you. I also run a few tire shops and can put whatever tire on my truck that I want. In my opinion the Michelin Defender LTX is what you are going to want. It is what I use, I am on my 3 set with this truck and have got about 65,000 miles out of the first two sets. Mainly highway driving and not a lot of towing. More in town driving and towing will drastically decrease the mileage you could see. Pretty sure there is a $70 off a set rebate coming up in Feb. Normally Michelin is the most expensive option out there in tires, this specific size for whatever reason is pretty comparable to other bands.

Thanks guys for the info. Yes the AT3s are loud to me lol. I値l admit the tread life seems great though.
Sounds like I should go with the Michelins.
It is my daily driver so I don稚 care to pay for quality. Looking for something that will last and be comfortable.
