Sounds like a plan!

As I said, I considered it for my Avalanche, but rust is a real problem on my vintage. It's not bad yet...but there is just no stopping it once it is there.

Exactly why I got rid of my old 2500 Avalanche. That was probably the most favorite truck I ever owned, and by no means the fastest/most powerful of them either. My duramax does everything better, but that thing had more soul, rode so nice and with headers and a 4" flowmaster and tail, sounded just plain mean. I fixed all the rust, new front fenders even. Year and half later it was coming back. Got rid of it before it became noticeable and I could get full dollar. I wish they still made the avalanche and the 2500's, I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

It has been a love hate relationship I have had with my 05 2500 Avalanche. Comfortable, pulled a 12K load no issue, super utilitarian.....but. It has tested me over the 175K miles I have put on it. Other than the motor and trans everything has been replaced on it. I probably should have bailed on it several years ago but I just loved the stupid thing. Typical GM fit and finish nonsense too. It only tried to kill me once when I ruptured a brake line. Luckily I was at the ramp pulling the boat out when it happened. It could have happened at any point on 20 mile drive to the water that day. Angels watching out for me and my wife I guess.

But, I'm ready to see it go. Come the fall, anyone that wants a slightly rusty 2500 with a laundry list of new parts all offers considered,

I have about 45K worth of driving experience with the 6.6 gasser in GMC 2500 Crew cabs. Best case scenario I've seen for MPG over a 50 mile stretch has been 24 MPG. Typical commute for me is 18-19 MPG. I've towed my 10-11000 lbs Fountain, 7500-8000 lbs Sea Ray, and 4000 lbs snowmobile trailer. While towing your mileage is pretty much cut in half. Truck is rock solid stable and gives a great deal of confidence while towing.
