makes sense; I still have the same truck intake but F body oil pan for clearance. I left the engine stock because every cam out there made more tq and hp above 3500 and lost some below. being a 5000 lb 1960 Caddy I opted to keep the low end power as I will rarely be above 3500
|
If I keep the truck when its done I'll build a 6.2 hot rod but it will probably go through a Mecum auction where they bring good money
|
yea, some of those are bringing stupid money at auction. my caddy is going to be a mostly daily driver for me. I have a 1970 Olds Cutlass SX convertible that is one of about 730 built. last year one went thru BJ auction for over $100k. I have had it since 1983 and paid $750 for it. who would have guessed.
|
Keeping it all Chevy no 9 inch........installed a new 8.875 posi unit with 3.73 gears and new Richmond axles in the 12 bolt, truck will be light should be fine with the 4L60E trans.

Awesome job!!! Can't wait to see the finished project. I'm getting ready to do a LS swap in my 70 Chevelle. Just received the engine, trans and all of the goodies from GM. LS7 427/570 HP and a 4L75E trans, computers, etc.... . Really excited about this one. It's gonna be cool!

Nothing in my drivetrain is numbers matching, so that made it an easier decision!

I love the 70 Chevelle, had one myself in high school. Great looking example of one, love the functioning cowl induction. Did you do one of the GM's connect and cruise packages?

this is just a question as I have dealt with those calipers quite a bit. did you adjust them before putting the arm for the e-brake on? also if this is an automatic make sure you use the e-brake regularly with that setup as they will not self adjust if you dont and the ratchet in them will stick and you wont have rear brakes. if you already know about all that then you are ahead of most who use them. truck looks like it is coming along nice. I finally drove my 60 caddy LS swap. few things left to do but for a stock 5.3 it runs pretty nice.

Holy smokes Wally Id rather pull the engines in my boat.........:lolhit:

If it wasn't so expensive to switch over I'd go with a Holley carb manifold and Sniper EFI setup.
|
I need some help from the LS folks can I change coil packs to the LS3, 5, 7 on this build will the plug and play with the 5.3 truck wiring harness, all the cool V covers are for these coils
