If you want a good rustproofing coating try to find the PB Blaster surface shield. I saw it reviewed on youtube and it looked impressive....then i happened to find it at my local Harbor freight store then again later that week at Menards (its a hardware store like Home Depot if not familiar with them)
I bought a can and sprayed a bunch of parts on my Avalanche....two months later its still holding strong...seems to be a waxy coating and they claim it creeps into cracks/crevices etc....
