Default Speed limits

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knows the speed limits for towing a boat on the highway in Illinois and Wisconsin? I have a 28 Sunsation that I will be towing and can’t seem to find consistent answers.

Thank you

A quick search with the keywords, 'how fast can a boat be towed in Wisconsin and Illinois shows Wisconsin has no special or lower limit, whilst Illinois is 55 mph (on 65 mph roads, for example).

Do the speed limit anywhere near Chicago and you are getting honked at, fingered, or even run over.

Lived here all my life and towed everything from single place jet-skis, to a 4 place sled trailer loaded with 5 wave-runners, to a 30' scarab, and as long as you are not overloaded for the truck, Have proper registration tags and you keep up with traffic or just do the speed limits the cops dont bother you. Now a days you have to be doing something reckless like driving 100mph+....other then that i dont see cops stopping anyone anymore! Ive never seen so many cars/trucks with blacked out tinted windshields (very illegal here) and cops do nothing....

I've towed through both of those states towing our boats and just ran the regular speed limits or maybe a few mile an hour faster, but never have gotten pulled over for that.
