Default Stand alone TPMS

My 07 D-Max (classic) didn't come with TPMS (Tire Press Monitoring System).

Seeing lots of Amazon options that use a small external screw-on sensor on the valve-stem. That might be OK for once-in-a-while use but looking for a more permanent solution.

Finally found one (Schrader) that uses the same type sensors as most modern cars use (internal valve-stem type). Display is solar powered so no wiring. Sounds good as long as it gets enough sunlight, otherwise I have to run a power cord to a yet to be installed USB outlet. .

Curious to what others may have experienced with these stand alone systems.

TireMinder. I've used it for many years, and it's well known and recommended. I suggest the setup that does not use your phone. I switched, as I like having the separate full time monitor in the truck.
There is nothing wrong with the ones that screw on. I've used them on several vehicles: trucks, cars, trailers; even my race car.

I was looking at the TireMinder and was considering it, but wasn't so sure abt the external sensors as a permanent option. Good to hear they work well for you.. May spring for another system to monitor the trailer tires next season. Do they handle being submerged at the ramp?

Got the Schrader monitor installed where I want it. Getting tires and sensors installed soon.

So far, so good with the Schrader. I mounted it to the top of the dash just below (almost touching) my older Edge CTS2. It was taking a long time to update the display.. Moved the CTS2 up abt 1/2" and it's updating a lot faster. Suspect the CTS2 is emitting some RF and interfering with the TPMS if too close.

Yep, the sensors do fine. They have an internal O-ring to keep them sealed, it's replaceable if required. And/or adding a new sensor is easy.
