Congrats!

check the rear diff. should be 1/4 to 3/8 below fill plug. They habitually come through half-full. Use GM's synthetic known as "grape juice". Expensive...$28+ retail a qt., I pay $19 something. Use it, it's proprietary and designed for that Eaton locker. Change it once (about 3 1/2 qts.) after your first big tow. 20 min job. Eaton recommendations. ;)

Change the Allison spin on filter at that time also...$7.50 at an Allison/Mack dealer. 10 min. job. Stealers nab $25 just for that filter only! Pre-fill it on the bench and you won't have to add.

Change the oil+filter at 1000 miles to get rid of sand cast, flash, and bearing coatings...and perhaps again at 5K, depending on workload. Then go to extended intervals. Don't do synthetic 'till at least 10K.

Register over at http://dieselplace.com

invaluable resource and friendly bunch.

You won't find steczy over there 'cause only real truckers hang out. :D

Make sure you don't toss the magnet with the old filter. :D

Congrats on the new truck. I'm kind of partial to Chevys, Duramaxes and Allisons (especially Allisons). :D

yes, the magnet...looks like a large (2"?) diameter, thick flat washer. Just sits on top of the spin on Alli filter. These few fluid maintenece chores are cake, and the right thing to do whether you're gonna own the truck forever or not.

After you get a couple thousand miles on it, buy a Diablo sport Predator programmer. Set it on the 40hp tune, and put it back in the box and forget it. You will LOVE the difference it makes. It runs quieter than stock, and has WAY more power. Best 300 bucks you can spend.

just don't go to the 65, 85, or 100 hp tunes.......it's WAAAAY too addictive, and then it'll be time for a new tranny.... :evilb:

One more thing.....XM Radio is very Cooool!!!!! :drink:

I drove the truck about 85 miles today and the dashboard gas avg. thingy says 13.2 mpg...but still climbing. I'm going on a road trip tomorrow, it will be interesting to see what the mileage is.
