Am actually thinking of getting rid of it at the present becasue I think a dually crew cab would be more useful for me. The Excursion has the 2nd row buckets and TV's - happy I got it that way, but I' single and only have four people in it rarely, l;ike when we go skiing. Has 48K on it and drives like a dream and will pull a horse trailer no problem. Installed better springs and Ranch shocks - with triple mount up front.

I still don't what the mileage trick is. I just drove 600 miles at at average of 73 mph, 17.0 miles per gallon average. 3.73 rear end, no towing, 4X4, tire pressure right. After reading the 10.3 with the V10, I should not complain.

13.9-14mpg hauling my 2k trailer empty and 10.9-11.0 with a car this past weekend. V10 with 143,000 miles. MPG keeps getting better with age. Haven't touch the engine besides plugs at 100k and oil changes. I have nothing against diesels but I think anyone who knocks the V10 doesn't have a clue! Most likely from all those diesel fumes.

We drag a few different machines, 33 Scarab & 42 Cig with our 2000 DSL excusrion, this truck is a daily driver and averages 1000 miles a week in the south texas area, with 205k on her she runs like a champ.
Buy one quick if you want a new as they are scheduled to stop producing them in 05.
I would not go with the gas!

For proper towing I recommend the Excursion with a Powerstroke, minimum of 11" of lift, 20" Weld wheels, Bilstein shocks, and 39.5" Truxxus tires, Banks git kit, Banks trans command, Banks exhaust!!!!
Mine tows my 30' Kachina like its not even there....
I wont brag about mileage though, this wasn't built to save fuel........
